(Reuters) - They remembered friends who died and brave Iraqis they had met, but news on Friday that the Iraq war was ending couldn't erase questions among U.S. veterans about whether it has all been worth it.

Since obama has been president... I have heard many ex-Military state that they feel that it was all for nothing. Not because Bush lied... but because obama surrendered to the enemy through his failure of leadership.

It would be foolish to believe that Bush fought one war in Iraq. The current battle was against foreigners who came to wage jihad in Iraq. Saddam had been deposed and for the majority of the years, our troops have been fighting together WITH Iraqis.

And this war has been waging since the 1990s when Saddam broke the peace agreement by attempting to seek forbidden weapons. He broke the peace. Those who claim this took Bush longer than it took to win WWII must have thought everything was sugar cookies before we were attacked at Pearl Harbor. I’d also like to know if they would’ve supported the dropping of 2 nukes to END the war sooner as Truman did.

When is Obama going to push through the 3-state solution in Iraq? Biden said the surge would never work, that it would have to be a 3-state solution.

The Iraq War is not “ending”. We’re just not going to participate in it anymore.

Wars end when one side or the other is completely exhausted and gives up in defeat. I do not perceive that that has happened in Iraq, so that war will go on, until Iran wins.

Has Iraq paid us for all the military efforts and lives like Bush told us they would?

In a year’s time when the next Saddam Hussein inherits a well-trained and equipped military and police force, a rebuilt and modernized infrastructure, many will question the worth of the conflict.

We should have gone in, gotten rid of Saddam (and his regime) and bailed. JMHO

What about the sanctions that killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis during the 90’s, with no end in site? Isn't putting an end to that worth something?

Christians and other non-Muslims have been going through a living hell and it's only going to get worse.

Watch out for the radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr to take control.

The withdrawal is part of the anti-military plan of the Progressive Left.

This is a mad scramble by The Messiah, to appease his peacenik base, and with the weakening of the Military by the appeal to faggots and dykes, true warriors are leaving in droves, as are the Veteran Commanders. Couple this with that phoney, Un-Constitutional "SUPER CONGRESS" committee not reaching agreement on the 1.4 Trillion in cuts, the automatic Defense Department and Military budget cutting will kick in (as planned all along, to further gut our defenses against the towel-heads, by the Towelhead-in-Chief we have now).

God save what's left of this once-great Nation.....

Our neo peaceniks and media types are going to get to relive their hippy parents experience of the fall of Saigon.

Iraq will be taken over by Jihadi before Obama leaves office

I really truly hope the men and women who leave the military say this LOUD AND CLEAR to everyone. The analysis you provide is accurate--Hussein should be forever disdained for his surrender to the terrorists and his abandonment of the people who yearn for freedom in Iraq.

When our troops pull out of Iraq, the MSM will not cover any negative story which would reflect poorly on Obama. Even if Iran and Turkey invade to fill the power void and Iraq goes into perpetual civil war and a humanitarian crisis.

Many in the military have long been feeling it was for nothing. There is nothing free about an Islamic nation. I don’t care how you try to spin it. When Islam rules, it ain’t even closely related to freedom. The new Iraq is guided by Islam. So was Saddam’s reign guided by Islam. Nothing changed except who is in charge. And from the looks of things, they ain’t doing so well. SSDD...
