Tea Party Nation poll shows 52 percent will vote for Romney if he is GOP nominee (Look out Pubs!)

Most self-affiliated members of Tea Party Nation, one of the largest national organizations for the grassroots conservative movement, would vote for Mitt Romney as president if confronted with a choice between him or President Obama, according to a poll of members released to The Hill on Friday.

The group surveyed its members this week in an informal poll posted at the group’s website. The question asked was: If Romney is the GOP nominee, what will you do in the general election?

Fifty-two percent of about 1,150 respondents said they would “hold their nose” and vote for Romney if he becomes the GOP nominee, while 23 percent said they would vote for an unspecified third-party candidate. Twelve percent said they would not vote in the presidential election at all if the choice is between Romney and Obama.

If Mitt is the nominee, then this Conservative WILL vote for him over Obama. And then THIS Conservative will work like hell be it on staff or in grass roots to find a rock solid Conservative to stand against Romney when his first term in up.

My point is that when faced with running into Socialism at 60 mph or 20 mph, I’ll take the lesser speed because it gives me time to formulate an alternative and to stop the engine altogether.

You may be right. If Romney is nominated, Obama may well have a second term. However, I, for one, will vote for Romney. I hope and pray that it will not come to that.

I hear what you are saying, but are you prepared actually prepared to get involved and do what it is going to take to bring about true Conservative candidates? That means nearly 40 hours a week working at a grass roots level to organize your group and then find, vet, and set up a working organazation for your candidate. Plus money becomes an issue. I don’t know if I am at this point yet. However, if Obama gets another term, the odds are I will be.

So, here is where this Conservative stands: I support Cain. He is getting my vote. If Romney becomes the nominee, then over Obama, yes I’ll vote for Romney. Any other Dem, I’d write-in Cain. But Obama is a Marxist Socialist who is openly destroying this nation economically, no; if Romney is the nominee, he will get my vote.

...we have to ignite the base for voting in a Republican Senate majority and keeping the GOP House.

This, at the end of the day, is where the real fight is. But my fear is that it will take at least 70 GOP Senate seats to neutralize the Senate RINOs who love to vote Democrat-lite.

I understand where your coming from. But from what I can see given Romney’s record there is not a big difference between he and Obama.

I agree. Think what would have happen if McCain didn’t have Palin on the ticket and that is what is going to happen to Romney a land slide for Obama.

Your pro-Confederate tag line and your determination to not vote at all and “let it burn” says it all. At some point the Tea Party will have to decide whether it is federalist and conservative or whether it is neo-confederate and reactionary. Some, not all, tea partiers seem like they have just read Ayn Rand, and imagine they can rule as “soveriegn individuals” from their own anarcho-capitalist utopia. Rather than John Galt, you more resemble a John Bircher of old ranting about flouridated water. Over fifty years ago some of you would have, as John Birchers, called Eisenhower a communist-sheesh. Folks like you are Obama’s best friend. You and the Occupy Wall Street crowd both imagine if you let it burn or make it burn you will get utopia.

This is half of “Tea Party Nation” not half of the bloomin’ GOP.

Some do tend to equate the two, just as some might think that F.R. represents the thinking or the political ideology of the Republican party as a whole. It does not.

I'm a proud member of F.R. because almost all members here generally think as I do when it comes to politics but I recognize my ideology is to the right of main stream Republicans, especially so in my home state of Illinois.

Romney consistently polls around 25% of the Republican party and that number doesn't just represent his coreligionists. His support on this forum is very near zero and rightfully so.

lol

35% of Tea Party people wont vote for Romney under any circumstances, even if it means Obama win re-election. I can't understand for the life of me why all these insiders like Ann Coulter are getting behind Romney knowing that nearly 1/3 of Republicans will stay home if he is our nominee.

I would rather Obama win a 2nd term, than vote for Romney.

Romney would destroy and country and the party and Republicans would then get all the blame, better to leave the mess and fault with Obama than hand it over to a liberal like Romney with an R after his name.

How is Mittens 75% better than Obama? Because he is white? because he is a (R)ino?

I’m with ya. If Romney is the nominee, I stay home and ask all my friends and family to stay home too.
Let it burn and write the whole thing off. Eff em!

at least go vote down the ticket. If it’s Mittens and Zero Micky Mouse might actually win it as a write in!

Just ONE comment on your post:

The Supreme Court is already LOST (with Soto and Kagan now there FOR LIFE). That's two seats that are Socialist/Anti-White man that can NEVER be regained until they die.

Scalia and Thomas are getting old, and they will be gone within 10 years, too, and two more of the parasitic-embracing jerks will be Appointed, and with a Rino in the White House, or a Progressive, we have no way to LEGALLY re-take the Nation as a Republic, sans Rebellion and Civil War.

we’ve been down this road before. I still have the scars on my back.

We gave them the house/senate/white house and they stabbed us in the back. They “power shared” with democrats, they spent money we did not have, they advanced liberal programs.

We put up the #1 liberal republican, the media darling as our presidential candidate. The ONLY reason that worthless SOB got close to winning was because he was FORCED to select a conservative running mate.

Why, oh why, should I be asked to vote for more of the same? I for one do NOT like being stabbed in the back.

There is no reason to “hold” the house or gain the senate if it’s filled with rino’s or liberals posing at R’s.

I’m close to loosing everything. I am in the “%$&@ it, let it burn” crowed. By the time Nov 2012 rolls around my family and I will likely be living in my parents basement.

Honestly, I am not sure ANYONE can put the fuse out. I think this powder keg is going to blow no matter what. When that happens do you really want a republican president/house/senate in power so the democrats can blame it all on them?

I'm an anybody but Obama guy. Even if I have to hold my nose and vote for a GOP candidate I don't like - like I did with Cain. Thankfully for Cain he chose a VP I loved which got me excited about the campaign. IF Romney is the candidate, wonder if he would choose wisely?

That must mean that Stalin gets a free ride, eh?

No, it means that you'd be dealing with the exigencies of the time, not upholding your "principles" at the expense of six million innocent lives. If you recall, we ended up having to work with Stalin as close allies in order to rid the world of the greater evil (at the time) that was Hitler.
