Actually, this looks like a very fair study. It was funded in part by the Koch brothers foundation. They have made all their data and computer programs available for download, so anyone can do a "peer" review.
Peer review has little validity if the reviewers are incestuous with the author - and this is the norm in science. Transparency and full disclosure is much better than peer review. Hopefully this will become the norm in the computer age.
