Rick Perry Talks Iraq and His ‘Love Affair’ With Guns
ABC News ^ | 10/22/11 | Arlett Saenz

Posted on 10/22/2011 10:24:01 AM PDT by normy

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said today he would never announce a date for a troop withdrawal from Iraq, the way President Obama did, but one thing he didn’t care to keep secret was what he called his “long love affair” with guns. Perry, speaking before heading off for a pheasant hunt with Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, at Loess Hills Hunting Preserve in Merrill, Iowa, implied that Obama may be putting American troops at risk by announcing that there will be a full U.S. withdrawal from Iraq by the end of the year. “Most importantly you don’t tell the enemy what your timetable is going to be,” Perry said. ” This administration has signaled, telegraphed its intentions all too often, and that’s just unacceptable. “The last thing that you want to do is put those men and women’s lives in peril, and I think that’s what the president’s done by making a political statement to his base that he’s going to be out of Iraq on a date certain,” Perry said. “That’s just bad public policy, but it’s — more importantly, it’s bad tactics from a commander’s standpoint. He needs to be working with the commanders on a timetable to remove those troops but obviously not telling the bad guys when it’s going to happen.” Wearing a khaki and bright orange hunting vest with a half khaki, half camouflage baseball hat, Perry refused to specify how many troops he would keep in Iraq if he was president but said he would consult with the commanders on the ground to develop a plan he would likely not broadcast to the public.

Rick Perry, upong graduation from college was commisioned in the United States Air Force. He became a pilot and rose to Captain. Not a feat for dummies.

Get real, even the monkey brained religious lunatics your government invited into the country, leaned how to fly 767s into prime targets in a short period of time.

You are a very shallow thinker.

You look at a few short soundbites and reject 10 years of executive experience. 24 million people in Texas. A 1200 mile international border. The 13th largest economy in the world, and the Governor is stupid!

Oh I forgot to mention the largest job creator in the USA since the Obama recession.

You look like a jackass when you jump these threads.

The Medal of Honor motorcycle is a Harley Davidson ridden by Texas Governor Rick Perry and signed by 17 Medal of Honor recipients. Governor Perry plans to auction the motorcycle with the proceeds going to benefit Freedom’s Angels.

Rick Perry served in the U.S. Air Force after graduating from Texas A&M

C-130 Rick Perry: He flew the world before politics …….

Perry could count on one hand the number of trips he had taken out of his home state by the time he graduated from Texas A&M University, but everything changed when he joined the Air Force.

Flying C-130s, Perry lived in Germany and Saudi Arabia. He flew in Central and South America, North Africa and all over Europe.

"I saw all of these different types of governments and I made the connections to how the people acted and looked, and it became abundantly clear to me that, at that particular point in time, that America was this very unique place and that our form of democracy was very rare," Perry said. " ... That was the greatest gift I received from my years of being in the military, and they really shaped my outlook on the rest of my life."

August 24, 2011: How Rick Perry helped stop the Gaza 'freedom flotillas' ….>>>>"I once spoke at a mission that Perry took part in, in Israel," Darshan-Leitner recently told Commentary's Alana Goodman. "And he approached me and said, 'I love what you do. It's amazing what you do. If you ever need help combating Israel's enemies, I'm here to assist.' "

Perry made good on that promise in July, when a cohort of liberal activists boarded a Gaza-bound aid boat with the goal of breaching Israel's maritime blockade of the Gaza strip

I would say it's time to ignore dragnet2. With that last comment he is obviously gone Ron Paul senile. Let me paraphrase

So what if Perry knows how to fly a plane, the terrorists who flew planes into the World Trade Center knew how to fly planes too

I might try to keep that post for future references to any of his other posts.

Q: What are the three most important foreign policy issues facing the U.S. today?

Rick Perry: “Having a strong economy so that we have the economic ability to have an impactful foreign policy.

We must be able to keep up with our research and -development capabilities in the military.

And our very important foreign policy position must be that our friends know we’ll be there for them, whether it’s Israel in the Middle East or Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, or India in the sphere of influence where China is located.”

As I said, even the monkey brained religious lunatics your government invited into the country, leaned how to fly 767s into prime targets in a very short period of time.

The moral of the story is ya don't have to be some senior scientist or real intelligent person to fly an aircraft, and in fact children are taught to fly all the time.

And 1,000 unscripted words of the mouth of Ricky P. takes half the day, and has the embarassed audience looking at their shoes and wishing they were somewhere else.

Stick to the pictures and the gun-posing, Ricky P. Words and thoughts are not your friends.

Actually, I like Newt Mr. normy.

He KO’d everyone on the stage at every debate...No doubt those in the Perry fan club failed to notice.

Good for you. Newt is my second choice but why do you feel the need to insult another Republican candidate? I don't insult any candidate because I may have to vote for them.

I look at the whole body of work. Perry has the best body of work in totality with the least amount of flags. Newt is second and he has the added bonus of being a great political intellect but I am not sure he wouldn't want to get along once elected. I tend to give him a pass on the global warming thing as being a political move, and a bad one.

“The moral of the story is ya don’t have to be some senior scientist or real intelligent person to fly an aircraft”

You are confusing civilian aircraft with fighter jets, missions, competition, etc.

No, you're confused period. Fact is you can teach a 17 year old kid to fly a jet fighter aircraft, and fly it good.

There was a 11 year old girl a couple years back, who flew a Russian Mig-29 and broke the sound barrier with it. Did I mention she was 11 years old?
