Rick Perry Talks Iraq and His ‘Love Affair’ With Guns
ABC News ^ | 10/22/11 | Arlett Saenz

Posted on 10/22/2011 10:24:01 AM PDT by normy

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said today he would never announce a date for a troop withdrawal from Iraq, the way President Obama did, but one thing he didn’t care to keep secret was what he called his “long love affair” with guns. Perry, speaking before heading off for a pheasant hunt with Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, at Loess Hills Hunting Preserve in Merrill, Iowa, implied that Obama may be putting American troops at risk by announcing that there will be a full U.S. withdrawal from Iraq by the end of the year. “Most importantly you don’t tell the enemy what your timetable is going to be,” Perry said. ” This administration has signaled, telegraphed its intentions all too often, and that’s just unacceptable. “The last thing that you want to do is put those men and women’s lives in peril, and I think that’s what the president’s done by making a political statement to his base that he’s going to be out of Iraq on a date certain,” Perry said. “That’s just bad public policy, but it’s — more importantly, it’s bad tactics from a commander’s standpoint. He needs to be working with the commanders on a timetable to remove those troops but obviously not telling the bad guys when it’s going to happen.” Wearing a khaki and bright orange hunting vest with a half khaki, half camouflage baseball hat, Perry refused to specify how many troops he would keep in Iraq if he was president but said he would consult with the commanders on the ground to develop a plan he would likely not broadcast to the public.

You have no knowldege of flying.

It requires a great deal of skill to land a transport. Or take one off, for that matter. In between is not too difficult.

Obama didn't announce the withdrawal. U.S. ambassador Ryan Crocker signed the SOFA on 17 Nov 2008, the day before obama was elected and it's been public knowledge.

It is amazing Governor Perry understands the military foundation of respect and protection for our United States military oversees when President Obama, our country’s Commander-in-Chief, does nothing but put our troops in danger.

I’m’ going to be glad when Obama gets voted out of office next November so we can give our troops a REAL Commander-In-Chief!

He understands because he is the Commander in Chief of the Texas Military Forces which include Texas Air National Guard, Texas Army National Guard and the Texas State Guard.

Texas Rangers and Texas State Patrol are also massive LEO organizations, much larger than the average State Patrol.

This is yet another reason, when all the smoke clears, Perry will beat Romney and Cain. Cooler heads will prevail. Not to mention he has military command experience. Perry's stats dominate, crush to powder the stats of every candidate running.

"No, you're confused period. Fact is you can teach a 17 year old kid to fly a jet fighter aircraft, and fly it good."

Your argument was that you don't have to be intelligent to fly a fighter jet. Age is not equivalent to intelligence.

Show me a stupid 17 year old who flies fighter jets well (completes missions and lands them again) and I'll concede your point.

I never said or suggested that and the reason why could not provide a quote from me saying that. If your going to make an allegation, you should at least back up. You might want to read #39 again, slowly.

"The moral of the story is ya don’t have to be some senior scientist or real intelligent person to fly an aircraft”
-dragnet2, POST #29 This Thread

I read your post slowly. It still says "you don't have to be intelligent.

Good luck.

No it's not what it says, ya damn liar.

I said: Ya don’t have to be some senior scientist or real intelligent person to fly an aircraft.

And it's the truth.

This seems to be too complex or outside your scope of understanding.

Words mean things and ya can't cherry pick certain words from the posts, and omit others to fit your argument. It don't work that way slick, and you will be called on it.
