Thanks to those stubborn things called facts, today its the Washington Post under fire not the subject of their Thursday hit-piece, Florida GOP Senator Marco Rubio. And now the WaPo memory-holing has begun. First, the Miami Herald came out swinging against WaPos embellishment of Rubios so-called embellishments, then the Senator himself hit back, then we learned the troubling back-story of the WaPo ''reporter'' who wrote the piece, and now the once-legendary newspaper has taken to quietly scrubbing the original story in order to make it look like something closer to the truth.

Another case of the WaPo WaPos slinging mud hoping that something will stick. And this passes for “journalism”? I’d call it abuse of the First Amendment.
Not a surprise at all...but still nothing less than outrageous conduct by the media. These smears against Rubio are messed up. As Bernard Goldberg has stated, there is no longer mere media bias - it is now media activism.
He’s right. The state run “media” doesn’t even try to hide their leftist bias anymore. They just don’t care.
Does not matter now.
The allegations are out there, and the vast majority of the sheeple who heard this will never hear that it was retracted.
It is now the “Accepted Truth”, a state which has nothing at all to do with real truth.
The Washington Post Republican Hit Piece du jure was the most pathetic and inaccurate slander I have ever seen.
Militant "gay," fiercely anti-Catholic, nauseatingly pro-Castro, and supporter of the communist dictatorship on the island prison of Cuba.
Henry Allen did throw a punch at Manuel Roig-Franzia in the newsroom last Friday. We hear that punch landed on Franzias face
Hope it hurt
Manuel Roig-Franzia has a well documented history of being an apologist for the Cuban communist regime and a hater of the Catholic church. He is also now writing a book on Marco Rubio.
Roig-Franzia specializes in writing long, loving profiles of liberal dissenters in, and secular critics of, the Catholic Church. The latest, on September 21, was about Jason Berry, author of Render unto Rome: the Secret Life of Money in the Catholic Church. Berry, writes Roig-Franzia, chisels an image of his church that reads like an ecclesiastical version of recent Wall Street scandals. This hosanna was only outdone last June, when Roig-Franzia offered a wet kiss in The Post to communist priest Ernesto Cardinal.
Manuel Roig-Franzia, who was the Mexico City bureau chief for The Washington Post in March 2007 and now writes for The Post’s Style section. Roig-Franzia, a reporter for The Times-Picayune from 1995 to 2000
Roig-Franzia was born in Spain, and came to The Post from The New Orleans Times-Picayune
You need to read the following:
It is entitled: “Washington Post Downplayed Obama’s Big Embellishment about Mother’s Health Insurer”
The Washington Post article that is referred to in the Weekly Standard is:
The hit piece on Rubio ran on Page A1 of the October 21, 2011 Washington Post and was entitled, Rubio’s Story Of Family Embellishes Facts”. Whereas the piece on Obama’s mother ran on Page A6 of the July 15, 2011 Washington Post and was entitled, “Obama’s Mother Had Health Insurance, According To Biography”
Whether both stories are mere misrepresentations or flat-out lies by Rubio and Obama are subject to debate, the headlines created by the Washington Post for the stories and their positioning in the newspaper is unconscionable.
Rubio was relating his family’s story as told to him by family members of events that occurred 50 years ago and 10 years before he was born.
Obama was telling a story of his mother being denied health care by her insurance carrier, which was not true. Her insurer [Cigna] did pay her medical bills, except for her deductible. She was denied a claim for disability insurance payments from an insurance policy that was picked up after she had been diagnosed with cancer. She was denied the disability payments because she had a pre-existing condition.
Obama’s mother had an attorney to represent her for her disability claim and he certainly knew the facts of the case. That attorney’s name was ... wait for it ... Barack Obama !!!
The Washington Post’s story about Obama’s mother would have been better titled as, “Obama Embellished Story Of Mother’s Health Insurance Claim”
The Washington Post’s story about Rubio’s family would have been better titled as, “Rubio’s Family Embellished Their Exile Story That They Told To Rubio”
And both stories deserved the same positioning in the newspaper either both on A1 or both on A6.
Obama clearly knew the story he told was embellished for political gain, whereas there is no indication that Rubio has embellished his parents’ story. Rubio told it the way it was told to him.
Thanks for that. I actually had posted the story about Obama’s mother a little while ago. The WaPo is shameless.
UH OH! Obama Sr. wasn't a citizen either. Even if he was born in Hawaii, Jr is not eligible! Unless, of course, we can have it both ways.
This conversation will be squashed toot suite unless they want to give the "Birthers" a chubby.
He’s got those crazy-eyes.
No deadline for any GOP primary has yet arrived.
IMHO Mr. Rubio should declare and enter the primary race.
He could win. The primary, and the election.
RUBIO 2012!
Thanks to the MSM JournOhacks we now are told that Marco Rubio’s parents came to the USofA from Cuba a couple years earlier than Marco remembers being told, yet we know next to nothing about the White House occupant’s past. I’m skeptical of anything and everything that comes out of the MSM.
