Without us, Maliki and his goobermint will be with Mubarak and Ga-daffy well before Christmas 2012.

Nobody delivers Christmas cards to Hades.

We should NOT have troops stationed in all these places anyway.

Troops in Western Europe and Korea, and scattered about the globe for logistical support (Diego Garcia, Guam, etc.) is fine. The rest need to come home.

All these “Poke-a-goat-a-stans” can go rot.

RE :"Have fun Iraq, bye now! Don’t expect a Christmas card."

Pathetic that we didnt get anything out of this after all we put into it the past 8+ years. And I am not impressed with Republicans trying to pass all the blame for it. It was Bush's deal. Bush-Obama. You see China doing stuff like this?

Would be interested to know any Freepers take on the Iraqi Dinar trending from all this. Know more than a few people who seem to fantasize they will make millions.... or that this is how the US govt. will make up its 14 trillion in debt (by cashing in the millions in dinars it holds in exchange for cheap iraqi oil.. at least that is the “pitch” they tell me. Oh, and another one- the only reason this hasn’t already cashed in big is because of this al-Maliki PM—really). Freepers in the know, or of an opinion on this? The Iraqi dinar is traded through money service bureaus, and not exchangeable in any US bank.

In no way has anything obama is saying on this been the actual truth. tet68 is onto something about sharia. Since obama is a pussy, he could not and would not insist on immunity period. On that note, our troops do not have immunity in Germany or in Japan bases, while off base.

All in all,a shiite led Iraq will tend to lean to Iran’s influences, and in so doing, in a country that is largely Sunni— you will soon have civil war..again. And then another saddam like clown, whom we will have to court to get iraqi crude. All very distressing.

Shi'ite Arabs -- approximately 60%

Sunni Arabs -- approximately 20%

Kurds (mostly Sunni) -- approximately 20%

“I bet if Bush was still in office, we would have gotten the soldier immunity.”

Not sure about that one as Bush could not convince Iraq to approve of flyover rights of Iraq so that Israel could take out Iran’s nuke facilities.
