What *I* think is funny/brilliant about the ad is that, by sharp contrast, Obama himself has to SNEAK his cigarettes.
This is so in your face.

And, because of the political incorrectness of smoking, more young people are doing it. May not be smart but young people are always rebellious.

Couldn’t be any worse than those nauseating photos you guys run of the big he-man Perry looking off into the middle distance as if trying to conjure up...a thought.

HA-ha!

I thoroughly intend to. And if he loses then I’ll know that as well as democrats the many republicans are stuck on stupid and there’s not a lot going to change in this country.

So,just so we're all clear on this ... Cain supporters are stupid.

Is this what you're saying?

Or does it run deeper ... you think anyone who supports someone other than Perry is stupid ..

This is one of the worst ads I have ever seen in my life - from beginning to end. His campaign manager doesn’t speak well, the smoking bit is just weird, and Cain looks sort of creepy in that shot at the end. Hope for the Cain campaign they didn’t actually put this awful thing on the air.

LOL. That wasn’t Cain but a black cowboy who was a card carrying liberal. Cain doesnt appear until the last few seconds of the ad.

Ignore Beagle, a persistent Cain-opponent.

Hey there AiT!

After that bang-on analysis, I’d rather see you providing political commentary on one of the alphabet soup networks instead of the ignorant chowderheads that presently afflict our sensibilities, NICE summary!

Just leaked!

Herman Cain's first ad that they rejected, also involved smoking, but bad language warning.

Actually, this might be the start of a BRILLIANT ad campaign... WHY? Because I am an American, too...

Or kinda like this...

Herman Cain Gear.

Does the shoe fit? Has Cain actually done the job that Perry has? I certainly admire what Cain has done and have a lot of respect and support for him. But has he actually done the job? Balancing all the balls in the political arena? NO, he hasn’t.

Has Cain ever had to take the battle to his democratic cities to create jobs? Do you realize how hard it is to convince all the major democratically led cities in Texas allow jobs and manufacturing into their cities? Making jobs when in the private sector is easy, as long as you can finagle your budget to find the money. But convincing a hoard of democrats and cutting deals with them to bring record numbers of jobs into your state is NOT easy.

What I said was, ‘I’ am going to vote for the man who’s already done the job. And has a proven record of doing so. I gave no criticism of Cain whatsoever.

No, you didn't. What you did say, that I took issue with, was:

if he loses then I’ll know that as well as democrats the many republicans are stuck on stupid

which, by implication, paints any non-Perry supporter as stupid. While some of them may be, that's a pretty broad brush stroke. I've got nothing against Perry, if he's the nominee I'll gladly vote for him - as I would for Cain.

I read through the thread before watching the ad — it seemed to me I was in for two minutes of watching someone smoke like a chimney, with billows like Al Gore had in his “An Inconveinent Truth” movie.

Good grief, the man takes a puff on a cig at the end and the entire world goes into a hullabaloo!

Which, funny enough, proves the point.

I love Cain’s smile at the end. He’s sort of letting a grin slip out, saying “I know what all you Liberals are thinking. You’re not going to be able to help yourself from completely obsessing over that puff of smoke and how, in your mind, it means I’m unfit to be President of the United States. What a hoax your entire mindset is! And, oh, btw, P.S. That dangerous bumbler in the White House smokes like a chimney day and night! Put that in your pipe and . . . oh, never mind.”

Was that the point of the ad?

I quit smoking after thirty years but, I don’t think the government should tell you what to do with your own body.

That's what I was expecting as well. It was just a tiny little puff of smoke, not some long drag, either. Good grief, indeed. *pfffft*
