SB5 is a state issue. In the spirit of the 10th amendment, presidential candidates should talk broad principles but leave it at that.
Wow, that’s pathetic. Romney’s as gutless as he appeared.
But Romney would not say specifically if he supports S.B.5, which Ohio voters oppose by a 57-32 margin, according to a Quinnipiac poll out Tuesday
Instead, he issued only generic support for GOP efforts to control spending in Columbus.
Scott Walker for president.
"I'm not running as the Republican view or a continuation of Republican values.
That's not what brings me to the race.
(Romney Video, accessed 9/19/07)
"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldnt make any sense at all.""
-- President Ronald Reagan
You’re not kidding. If Romney gets the nomination, he’ll move to the center.... or worse yet, left of center... so fast it’ll make your head spin. It’ll look like a one man stampede.
I keep saying Romney will not repeal Obamacare. Here’s how that will go. Romney wins the White House. GOP holds the House and either has a very narrow majority or minority in the Senate. Romney is unable to get 60 votes to repeal Obamacare in the Senate. Romney, seeing how Obama lost popularity by using reconciliation to enact Obamacare, does not want that. Not to mention, Romney actually likes Obamacare. So, he, and a yet-to-be-determined Gang of Whatever, with the usual suspects from both parties ‘reforms’ Obamacare, and voila! we have Romneycare! This will easily carry the Senate, narrowly carry the House, and socialized medicine goes on... probably forever.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.

The problem I see is that aside from Perry, these governors, who are doing the right thing IMHO but taking a lot of sh*t for it, are among the most unpopular governors in their own states right now, especially Kasich.
People want change, but not too much at once. Overreaching is why the Dems lost in 2010 in the first place!
In response to the outcry, Romneys campaign rolled out a creative argument: His reluctance is about preserving states rights. Gov. Romney believes that the citizens of states should be able to make decisions about important matters of policy that affect their states on their own, Romney spokesperson Andrea Saul explained.
That is a stupid argument coming from the Romney camp.
When union Democrats from all over the country got involved, the issues grew from being simply a state's rights issue to a national discussion of outside thuggery, the union's rights and future direction in today's society, and the marginalization of local government rights and abilities due to union intervention and strongholds.
While we do need to honor the rights of every state to govern themselves as per their own citizens understanding, there are also quite few national problems here which Romney could have spoken up against but chose not to.
An Essay on Mitt Romney. Its damning.
Gosh, you mean that Mittens dodged an opportunity to endorse a conservative position? On public employee unions, no less.
I’m really, really surprised.
Really.
