Poll: 43 percent agree with views of "Occupy Wall Street" (idiots)

Forty-three percent of Americans agree with the views of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll that found a widespread belief that money and wealth should be distributed more evenly in America.

Twenty-seven percent of Americans said they disagree with the movement, which began more than a month ago in lower Manhattan and has since spread across the country and around the world. Thirty percent said they were unsure.

Young and left-leaning Americans were more likely to agree with the movement than were their older and more conservative counterparts. Half of Americans ages 18-29 say they agree with the movement; just one in three Americans age 65 or older say the same. And two thirds of liberals say they agree with "Occupy Wall Street" compared with just one in four conservatives.

---------------------------------------------------------

An oversample was conducted for this survey which will be analyzed in a future poll release.

They are approximately the same 43% who will vote for Obama next year.

The causes. Poor public education (ignorance), years of affluence (disconnected from reality), changing demographics and urbanization.

Other indicators. The fat millionaire Michael Moore living an opulent life wouldn't be as successful as he is bashing a free market if it were not for people buying his products. Obama, a provincial politician with some dubious ties, extensive illicit drug use, with a thin resume that had zero experience or formal education pertaining to the duties of the nations chief executive, did get elected. There are many examples-

The US is done, she's cooked just like the rest of Europe that is in the macro and long haul simply managing a slow decline.

Don't be surprised if the US reelects Obama despite all.

Good verse - but I liken it more to -

Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

57% is a pretty solid majority.

Wow that’s encouraging. Only 43% of my fellow citizens are communists. At this point.

57% is a pretty solid majority.

Majority of what? Actually 27% said they disagree with OWS. Thirty percent said they were unsure.

I think it's a stupid poll. A lot of people don't see the actual Occupy sites, don't live or work near them and they depend on the MSM's presentation, which leave out anything unflattering. OK, the Occupiers are against (among many, many other and diverse things) the bail-outs of Wall Street firms -- so are most conservatives. It's not really dishonest of the MSM to report that, except that they leave out the loony demands like "cancel all debt" (though lots of people nowadays would have at least a twinge of sympathy with that, but only in the sense that they'd like to have a Fairy Godmother; then they laugh at themselves and sigh and get back to work).

A guy on radio (Jeff Kuhner -- sp? -- of the Washington Times) just commented on the virulent and abundant anti-Semitism on display in the DC Occupation -- is that being reported in the MSM?

Then there's the responders who say, "Yeah, I guess they have a point about some things, but they don't understand the issues and they really need to grow up!" Is the pollster going to put that as Pro or Con?

I dunno, look at the poll padding. Probably 10-15% of that heavily Dem padded poll are “Me Too-ists”, trying to get a patina of “cool” without having to get filthy and disease ridden, in the hopes of picking up girls in local bars. I wonder how many respodents were unionistas?

Source of poll (NYT and CBS) tend to have samples that are weighted left and young....

Bingo!

The likelihood is that both polls are wrong (aren't they all?). But many conservatives (especially radio hosts) repeatedly refer to the Gallup poll as an accurate indication of the distribution of political "conservatives", "liberals", and "moderates". I find this reliance on the Gallup poll to be a dangerous exercise in false optimism.
