I said they should be reviewed by an independent auditor, and an opinion rendered regarding the completeness and legality of their taxes. The actual details of everyone’s financial lives, if legal, are nobody else’s business.

Likewise, a candidate’s medical history should be private, excepting that each candidate should get a report by an independent physician, with that doctor’s opinion about their fitness for office. If there are any specific concerns (like Cheney had with his heart condition) it is OK to discuss that, but the whole details of the whole medical history are nobody else’s business.

“The actual details of everyone’s financial lives, if legal, are nobody else’s business.”

The Federal income tax return does not necessarily provide all the actual details of everyone’s financial lives.

What makes you think the democrat opposition does not already have Mitt’s tax returns and the details of his financial life, ready to use it to destroy any chance we have of dislodging the democrats from the executive branch?

Medical records are not a part of our discussion. You just put that there to distract from the point.
