Latino Rights Activists Seek to Sabotage GOP Primary
AM 740 KTRH ^ | 10/17/2011 | JOE GOMEZ

Because Governor Rick Perry has backed some especially harsh anti-illegal immigrant legislation (like a bill that would outlaw sanctuary cities) Latino rights activists want Hispanics to switch over to the republican party and vote Perry out of the G.O.P race for the presidential nomination during the upcoming primary season.

...

"I think to a lot of Democrats what Governor Perry represents is something that they detest"

Sorry, Allegra. I have the utmost respect for you, but Texas FReepers have gone off the rails for a guy who would fare worse than McCain in a general election (and who polls at 4%-7% nationally.)

Another Texan idiot. You people need to learn that there are 49 other states.

Aww, go pay your state income tax.

You need to read your history.

Ohio used to be the border and it was pretty.

I love you too, Buc, but I’m getting a little weary of all the trashing of Texans beind done on FR these days.

And I’m not so sure Governor Perry would do worse than McCain.

A small price to pay in a state with a GOP governor who knows the definition of illegal.

BTW, try your comment on a New Hampshire, Florida, South Dakota, Washington, Nevada or Wyoming FReeper and see how that works.

The ultimate blame is to be laid at Perry's feet. He's not presidential material. Neither is my governor who I back wholeheartedly...as governor.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

The primaries are still a way off, and nobody's voting yet.

I'm all about keeping Romney off the ticket.

Perry is a conservative and a leader. He sucks at these dog-and-pony sound-bite-generators they call debates.

The level of spin, smearing and outright misinformation going on here on FR is appalling.

I suspect there is a lot of emotion behind these things.

Kasich is presidential material...folks around here don’t seem to like him that much, but I think he’d be a formidable candidate.

That is the most ridiculous argument on this thread. The Indians were already here. While I certainly agree with what we did then, they were justly compensated and given citizenship. They have never acted like the invading Mexicans your governor gives a pass to once they're over the border.

Google Alabama's new laws. Think La Raza Ricky will propose anything similar?

As am I. I'm with Cain, but if by some miracle (literally) Perry wins the nomination, he'd better pull a Palin-esque rabbit out of his hat if he wants to win.

The Mexicans were already here when we tackled this frontier, Texas was Mexico, and Mr Perry has made it adequately clear that he is hamstrung by the FEDERAL GOV, You can believe what you want but I know the Perryphobes are full of ****

Well, those Democratic activist groups, who are for the most part not even Hispanic themselves, probably won’t have much luck getting many Hispanic citizens to jump over and vote for Mr. Cain, and I’ll show why.

Hispanic voters are actually very socially conservative with a high regard for their religion (mainly Catholic but other faiths too), and while many Hispanic citizens vote Democratically, many do vote Republican and the majority do take social conservatism into account when voting. Most Hispanic citizens even support strong immigration policies and enforcement. Marco Rubio is one of those Hispanic citizens who proves to be a conservative that stands tough on immigration issues, but he is just one of many.

Details Here:

Title:
Conservative Republican Values and the American Hispanic Mind

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/05/conservative_republican_values.html

And some second and third generation socially conservative Latinos are even moving from Catholicism towards Evangelical Christian churches in an effort to integrate themselves even more into the conservative American world.

http://www.christianpost.com/news/young-hispanic-catholics-continue-to-shift-to-evangelical-churches-59058/

But trying to get them to vote for Cain at this point might be a fruitless effort as these same religiously faithful Hispanic citizens were very upset with some wording used recently by Mr. Cain. While those very-conservative Hispanic citizens may vote pro-life, pro-family, pro-faith, etc., and appreciate a safer country with strict immigration policies, their moral compass was shaken by the idea of the drastically violent wording that was used for people of their same culture and decent.

Now I’m sure Mr. Cain was just joking when he said what he did a couple weeks back. In fact he said the next day that he was just joking, so we shouldn’t hold him to that same stand now since he said it was just a joke and that he didn’t really mean it, but the damage was already done in the Latino world, internationally and for those socially-conservative Hispanic citizens in America alike.

GOP debate on immigration alienates some Hispanics

And I think this article is worth mentioning as well, along with an excerpt:

HATE CRIME INCREASES AGAINST LATINOS – Teen attacked, called “beaner” and “stupid Mexican”
October 22, 2011

http://tucsoncitizen.com/arizona-hispanic-republicans/2011/10/22/hate-crime-increases-against-latinos-teen-attacked-called-beaner-and-stupid-mexican/

Excerpt:
We will be addressing the increase of hate crimes against our fellow Latino brethren. No thanks to the likes of Russell Pearce, Herman Cain, Virgil Peck and so many others advocating hate and violence against Latinos and immigrants. So much for the “pro life” party. There will be hell to pay for this at the voting booths.***
End of excerpt

*** Above comment by the Arizona Hispanic Republican Organization

I wouldn’t even try to guess who our country’s conservative Latinos may vote for come this election, but I don’t think any Democrat activist group is going to move those conservative votes to Mr. Cain as easily as this article seems to indicate.
