Or are they just double-agents trying to help Perry build some anti-illegal credentials after his near disasterous defense of the Texas Dream Act?

I would be very surprised if the pro-illegal liberal lobby really cares about a texas law that doesn’t offer them anything, that has only effected an average of 2000 kids a year, many of them legal, and many others only temporarily illegal, and who are working to fix their legal status, and are actually americanized and high-performing members of the community.

That’s not their profile. They speak for the high school dropouts who stand at the 7-11 and work day labor jobs. They don’t want immigrants to be successful college graduates, and neither do the businesses that are looking for cheap under-the-counter labor.

Those businesses want kids who can’t go to college, who get disallusioned with the system, stop renewing their papers, and fall into the underbelly of society, especially those who have been here long enough that they have no home, no way of going “back” to a place they never really have been and would never fit into, and therefore have no choice but to do the bidding.

College education improves the situation for both the children and the state — it’s why Texas decided to support this program.

The Texas program is not Obama’s dream act, which offers a path to citizenship for not only the kids, but their parents as well, and doesn’t require acheivement of any real kind. A lot of people who are upset at Perry know all about Obama’s Dream act, but assume the Texas law is identical, when it is quite different and has a different purpose and result. The conservative-hating media were more than happy to help confuse people on this subject.
