Where is AARP?
Where is AARP?
While a ton of Social Security reforms are needed, the biggest financial burden it contains for us is in the hole in the “trust fund” filled by the billions in IOUs that will, increasingly, keep coming due (payable by general revenue) throughout the decades of the “baby boomers” retirement years.
There are a slew of “one line” budget cuts that can each on their own eliminate billions at a time (like ethanol subsidies, tax exemptions and credits, corn and cotton subsidies, trains to no-where subsidies, etc., etc.).
It could seem that a reasonable GOP sentiment that reasonably opposes Social Security as it is, unreformed, is swatting a bee (or a nest of them) when they need to be reforming the nest the bees work in. The bees aren’t the problem, the set of accounts their nest draws from is the problem.
It could be an example of picking the wrong battle only because the right one is not open to you or you are not yet ready for the right one.
It could be that for mere chump change in savings some in the GOP are creating a storm where they don’t need to.
Do these morons think that the Social Security Administration sets policy and enacts legislation?
OK, guys ... I'm assuming all these groups have cadre and officers that do something at a brick and mortar and that they don't work for free nor is the rent free.
Does SS money pay for this?
are they more unfunded gummint programs?
Wouldn’t it make more sense to protest your representative’s office?
It’s not like the SS office is voting to cut their operating budget. The smell of astro-turf is nauseating.
