Newt Gingrich fires back at Meghan McCain: "How would she have a clue?" [VIDEO]

Newt Gingrich doesn’t seem fazed by criticism from Meghan McCain that his campaign is just a “vanity project.”

“How would she have a clue?” asked the former Speaker of the House in a Wednesday interview with The Daily Caller.

Gingrich seemed surprised by the accusation from the Daily Beast columnist and daughter of Senator John McCain — especially since his poll numbers mirror her father’s in 2007.

“How would she have a clue?” LOL! Good answer.

She’s such a dimwit. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and all that...

Does anyone know if Meghan Mc Cain has a job? Being fat unattractive and uneducated is no way to go through life.

I assume she gets a family allowance, I can't see any private employer hiring her at anything.

“Fires back”? What a b/s title. This was, and is a nothing. It’s certainly not news.

She is a joke, if anything she exposes who the real John McCain is, along with his wife.

Good for Newt! It’s way past time someone told the little, full-of-herself twit off. She’s like David Brooks — making a living by passing herself off to the liberals as a “good” Republican.

Dang I love what Newt has to say.

I wish I had more faith that he would walk the walk and not go wobbly.

Although many conservatives are not big fans of Newt Gingrich, I like his direct style, especially when asked a question about the snarky opinion of airhead Meghan McCain who termed Newt's candidacy a "vanity project". He dismissed her snide comment with one of his own: "how would she have a clue?" and by doing so, put the little twerp in her place. Newt may or may not win the GOP presidential nomination but I don't mind seeing him in the race. If he can stay focused on the economy and not make any real blunders, he could have a shot. However, I'm still backing Herman Cain.

AGREED! He appears to be no-nonsense, speaks well, and has a long memory. However, he is damaged goods for conservatives, sitting down with Pelosi. That is unacceptable!! But I do like to hear him speak.

While Meghan McCain was speaking at the Newseum on Wednesday, Newt Gingrich was just a few miles away dismissing the Daily Beast blogger.

The Daily Caller caught up with Gingrich at the Capitol Hill Club for the Republican Lawyer of the Year awards and asked him about McCain calling his campaign a mere “vanity project.”

“How would she have a clue? I mean, everyone’s allowed to have opinions but I just spent the last nine days on the road. We’re in the process of opening offices in South Carolina, New Hampshire and Iowa and I think in yesterday’s New York Times/CBS poll I’m in third place. I’m actually exactly where her father was, in third place, at this point in 2007,” Gingrich told the Daily Caller while the cameras rolled.

“Do you think her opinion will have any sway with young Republicans?” they asked. Shaking his head and smiling, Gingrich said, “No.”
