Can Herman Cain win the Nomination?

Can Cain Win the Nomination?

The Conventional Wisdom among pundits of all political persuasions -- Cain can't win, so we don't have to even pretend to take him seriously.

One small problem with the conventional wisdom -- Cain is polling at 30%, even 35%, is tied for the lead in two early-voting states, and well-positioned in a third.

I think the pundit class, by and large, is committing the crime of Aggravated Solipsism. They don't find Cain plausible or acceptable; ergo, he is not plausible or acceptable to a plurality of the Republican primary electorate and ergo he cannot, under any circumstances, win.

They seem to completely ignore the part about people getting to vote. And those people, when voting, expressing a different opinion on whether or not he is plausible or acceptable.

For what it's worth, I don't mean this to be a Cain Rules/Elites Drool thing. Well, I do mean it about the Elites drooling. They are incapable of seeing beyond their own biases. They listen only to themselves, to people expressing pretty much the same opinions they do.

Most of the party doesn't want Romney as their standard bearer. We know this from the fact that Romney does all the technical aspects of politicking right -- good debater, good ads, raises lots of money, strong organization, unified and relentless messaging from surrogates -- and yet can't rise any higher than 25% in polls

Point is, he can be nominated. People should start taking him very seriously -- and I mean that for good. If you're inclined towards him, well, you can draw succor from the idea he should be taken seriously.

And of course Cain raised $3 million in October alone, so he's got a fair amount of money and can start staffing up and so on

He does, however have a far better shot than either of the Romney/Perry twins, for for whom unreplacably large sectors of the base won't vote.

Of course he can win.

If not, why is Rove, who is the hitman for the GOP elites hiding in the shadows, trashing him so often?

The fact that Toyko has been trashing him on TV, shows the people Rove works for are afraid of Cain.

A question that gives nightmares to Establishment Republican Talking Heads (Repubics)

The only way Cain does not win the nomination is if Perry, Bachmann, Newt & Santorum stay in the race past first 3 primaries. That scenario gives the flip flopper to eek out wins in initial primaries and build the momentum.

Don’t get me wrong, I would be quite happy with either Perry, Bachmann or Newt getting the nomination. But I would be sad if they keep dividing the more conservative votes, clearing the path for Romney.

It’s time for Bachmann to drop out and support Herm.

He is going to win. The support is over-whelming. Sorry Texas, Rick Perry is better in Austin. Romney dudes, your time here is limited.

And today, even Brit Hume dissed romney and said he was over his flip-flopping limit a long time ago and this week, he surpassed it to the point where it is unforgivable...first for throwing John Kasich under the bus then trying to take it back, then on manmade global warming.

“Can Cain Win the Nomination?”

Conservatives need to have someone besides Romney win the nomination. Since Palin has dropped out it appears Cain and Perry with Newt as the VP would be a strong possibility. I could support either, but with his interview today Perry is getting a second wind.

“Nomination?: Yes

Presidency?: Doubtful”

Do you really believe -Rs would vote for him in primaries and then switch to a -D in the general election? I firmly believe he would draw a big block of -D from 0!
