The beach at the Furama is sort of bowed-in section. The surf there is good when it´s good, but pretty funked out at other times which are difficult to read unless one´s been around awhile like the guy in the article. The Ban Dao Son Tra Peninsula though is just north and east, and although I don´t know for sure, I´d bet there are some pretty good point breaks there about.

I was based around the Danang area during the war, and went back with my daughter in 2000, so I´m a little partial to the place. But the whole country shares one long beach in the east totaling about 1500 miles. And I´m sure you can get some bargain packages as the tourist industry is oddly still new there, and not over-trampled...yet.

The best place to surf in Nam is Vung Tau.

I never was there, but I did get nearby to Nha Trang courtesy of an all expenses paid vacation at the 8th Field Hospital.

When we went swimming at Tuy Hoa in II Corps there were sentries posted on the beach not for Charlie but to shoot the sharks.
