I've worked in the corporate world long enough to see a few people accused of this sort of thing. I have never heard of a mandated insurance settlement in such a situation. I've actually never seen one of these accusations hold up through an investigation.

I think you’re wrong, with respect. Suppose the coverage limits are, say, $ 250k. Then the insurance compnay also has to pay for ourside lawyers to handle the deense..say, another $50 k...so they’re potentially on the hook for $ 300k.so if they can get a settlement, ( with NO admission of wrong) they want it..and if the company, or the individual REFUSES, then they’re stuck for everything themselves..the insurance coverage is no longer in effect.
