All Three Networks Hype 'Bombshell Blast' Against Herman Cain
Newsbusters ^ | October 31, 2011 | Scott Whitlock

Posted on 10/31/2011 11:26:12 AM PDT by opentalk

All three morning shows on Monday hyped a "bombshell blast" against Herman Cain, playing up a story in Politico charging the Republican presidential candidate with sexual harassment back in the 1990s. ABC's Good Morning America led with the allegations.

Co-host George Stephanopoulos, whose former boss, Bill Clinton, repeatedly faced sexual harassment claims, touted, "And this morning, bombshell blast. Major allegations against front-runner Herman Cain. Two former female colleagues accuse him of sexual harassment."

CBS's Early Show ...Crawford also connected the allegations, linking, "...This reminds me of similar allegations that were levied just 20 years ago against Justice Clarence Thomas who, of course, was accused of sexual harassment himself."

.... MAGGIE HABERMAN (Senior political writer, Politico): Uh, I think the story was extremely well reported and it really speaks for itself. We gave the campaign ten days to respond to this. They repeatedly did not directly address the specifics of this. And when one of my colleagues, Jonathan Martin, approached Mr. Cain directly yesterday. And he did not say these allegations are false. He didn't really even address it. So, I think the story is thoroughly reported and, again, I think it really does stand.

STEPHANOPOULOS: The sources are anonymous for the most part. You speak to some members of the board of the National Restaurant Association. They said they knew nothing about this. Did you speak to the women involved?

HABERMAN: You know, we spoke to many sources. I'm not going to specify who we spoke to. I think we spoke to a lengthy roster of people who were around the NRA at the time, former board members, former staffers, as we said in the story. But, I think I'm going to let the sources have protection.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Why can't you say you spoke to the women?

Where is Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Charlie Rangel? The NAACP? Why are they not crying: “RACIST, RACIST, RACIST!!!”

If it was a Democrat, you better believe they’d be calling this a Racist attack against a Black man.

Honestly, who cares? The people who don’t like Herman Cain will believe it. The people who like Herman Cain won’t believe it. It’s not going to change anybody’s vote.

It’s 15 to 20 year old news. Better to get it out of the way now. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was actually folks on the Conservative side who leaked it - other Republican campaigns who are frightened by Cain’s ascendency. They expect most people to blame it on Leftists. But it’s actually the other Republicans on the ticket who get the most advantage from info like this at this time.

My husband and I support Herman Cain - the bumper sticker is on the car and we are proud to still be free to do this.

Let them take their shots, they will probably ricochet back at them.

Herman is the real deal.

“All Three Networks Hype ‘Bombshell Blast’ Against Herman Cain”
What should we expect from the “lamestream media”? \They don’t report items as, fast & furious, Solyndra, the terrorist takeover in lieu of the “Arab Spring”, the declining American economy, our sellout to the Chinese, the dismantling of our once great space program, the socialist, Leninist commie takeover, and on....and on. Yet they are fixated on alleged allegations of a couple of disgruntled employees.

Bingo. It is an abused charge to get money. I witnessed it and corporations settle even when the charges are bogus. It has become a money making scam.

Does it go on - sure it does, ask Bill Clinton, one of the greatest harassers of all time! A governor ordering his state police protection unit to procure Arkansas state female employees so that Clinton can cajole them into sex! I laughed when the feminists put themselves into a pretzel saying Clinton’s actions were not really “harassment”!

Rush Limbaugh raised an interesting possibility on his show. He speculated that if Cain’s accusers were white and Cain were white the women might not have filed any claims. It would be pure racism.

Mr. Cain should hire Larry Sinclair as his spokesperson and arrange for a unbiased polygraph extravaganza to determine what was the real truth of in 1999! The media would have a cow.

Larry took part in a polygraph setup regarding his allegations of sex and cocaine use with of Obama. The computer analysis of his examine indicated that he was telling the truth.

Let’s have a new polygraph trifecta for these two women and Larry Sinclair to find out what really happened back in 1999! Was it racist white women? Was it an Obama stepping out on Michelle?

The media can’t handle the real truth.

I will state here and now that this will ONLY HURT the dem/libs.
I think we have heard enough about people in this arena. It’s a cheap shot at Herman Cain and if he says he didn’t do anything I certainly will stand behind and support him 110%.

Now, let’s talk about how Spitzer got a big paying job on TV.

Now that other guy who ran with the woman from Argentina or someplace is going to get a job as an analysist on TV...is it FOX or not? I don’t know.

Now how about clintin still running all over the globe doing a fat cat job he got ...AFTER all he did in the oval office as President.

It’s so predictable that the left would try this again. I think however, that we are TIRED of this low life time of campaign. They tried to destroy Justice Thomas and said all kinds of all vile things against Gov. Palin and her family including her BABY. Her BABY FOLKS. That’s really low life pond scum. they should be very ashamed at themselves for attacking a helpless innocent baby. Those people were/are VILE.

So, anything they toss out there at Herman Cain is NOT gonna make any difference. Those that will vote for him will vote for him period. Didn’t the clintin supporters and the others after all?

Hurricain!!!
Go Mr. Cain!!
Hurry Cain!!
Raisin’ Cain!!
Cain is able!!

God Bless Herman Cain...I think he has the faith and strength to get through anything else slimy that will be thrown at him. Cain 2012!!!

Our side needs to start countering, the MSM group attack, They did this with Sarah Palin and her clothes. It takes up the news cycle so other issues are blocked out. The left will use it over and over again, unless there is a push back.

GOP will lose the media war by staying silent. Newt is the only one that seems to fight back.

At last years seminar for sexual harrassment at work I posed a question. “Being a male, if I am accused of harrassment and the allegations are proven untrue, what is my recourse legally to restore my reputation?”

Her reply was “You’re on your own”. My jaw dropped, I was so stunned I couldn’t respond to her statement.

Right now, folks, Politico looks like the village idiot and an Obama/Rove buffoon. Politico better come up with some real names and hard, true facts, like right now!!! Otherwise, the toilet bowl flush will wash them down to the dirt bag, low life cesspool in which they belong!!! Go Herman!!! We, the people got your back, Mr. Cain!!!

Obviously, the networks needed something to fill all that airtime now that they've so thoroughly investigated the "Fast and Furious" and Solyndra scandals...

Why I'm sure they've spent dozens of ... seconds ... on those issues.

No, really.

While CBS Evening News did devote a segment to Fast and Furious on October 3rd, NBC hasn't mentioned the story since April 17, and the last time ABC covered it was a news brief on June 15.

Also, a study by the Media Research Center found that the three broadcast networks are providing virtually no coverage of the Solyndra scandal. Compare: in just the first two months of 2002, the ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts cranked out 198 stories on the Enron debacle, compared to just eight so far on Solyndra, a 24-to-1 disparity.

According to independent prosecutor Kenneth Starr’s investigation into the Clinton-Lewinsky affair, their first sexual encounter was facilitated through Stephanopoulos’ West Wing office:

En route to the restroom at about 8 p.m., she passed George Stephanopoulos’s office. The President was inside alone, and he beckoned her to enter. She told him that she had a crush on him. He laughed, then asked if she would like to see his private office. Through a connecting door in Mr. Stephanopoulos’s office, they went through the President’s private dining room toward the study off the Oval Office. Ms. Lewinsky testified: “We talked briefly and sort of acknowledged that there had been a chemistry that was there before and that we were both attracted to each other and then he asked me if he could kiss me.” Ms. Lewinsky said yes. In the windowless hallway adjacent to the study, they kissed. Before returning to her desk, Ms. Lewinsky wrote down her name and telephone number for the President.

At about 10 p.m., in Ms. Lewinsky’s recollection, she was alone in the Chief of Staff’s office and the President approached. He invited her to rendezvous again in Mr. Stephanopoulos’s office in a few minutes, and she agreed. (Asked if she knew why the President wanted to meet with her, Ms. Lewinsky testified: “I had an idea.”) They met in Mr. Stephanopoulos’s office and went again to the area of the private study. This time the lights in the study were off.

George Stephanopoulos Was Monica Lewinsky’s OTHER White House Crush: Book

“I vaguely remembered her as a pretty, busty, flirty intern I’d pass in the halls or see hanging out at Starbucks on weekends,” he wrote in his memoir of his White House years. “A few times at work, she had tried to surprise me with a double tall latte, but my assistant, Laura Capps, would stop her at the door.”

What awful thing did Herman do to these poor, abused, anonymous women?

Did he leave a pubic hair on a pizza box...?

I am waiting to see which republican candidate makes ANY reference to this as possibly true.

If any do that could be simple opportunism. Not that that makes it any more palatable. But two good conservatives decided to jump on the "abortion" issue without finding out the truth.

I see this as a liberal hit on a black who has strayed off their plantation. After torpedoing Cain they can then try to blame one of the other Pubbie candidates for the smear operation. Until I see proof that one of the Pubbie candidates did this I will suspect the libs.

ONE candidate went as far as to insinuate in an ad that his opponent was responsible for the death of an American LEO.

I totally missed that.
