Not having an insurance background, I never really thought about all this. Is the article correct?

I was watching their livestream broadcast over the weekend. They brought up ‘squatter rights’, stating that if they were at the location for 30 days, they were there permanently by law, that they'd be considered residents, and that they could apply for food stamps and medicaid.

So, if I owned a business and these useless eaters were keeping my customers away, could I sue the park owners for not evicting them?

Not having an insurance background, I never really thought about all this. Is the article correct? It's right on target. I was thinking along these lines a few days ago.
It's just a matter of time before an actionable incident occurs.

I wondered about that as soon as I learned that park in NYC was privately owned.

The article is correct, if the surrounding businesses have no coverage for this type of loss they will sue the park owners. If they are covered then the insurance companies will sue the park owner.
I cannot conceive why the park owner would expose itself to such liability. Maybe Obama promised to indemnify them.

In the day/age of irresponsible, selfish, comformist, blame-someone-else, sue-happy liberals, who happen to be the SAME people in the thick of this....I say these are GREAT points (insurance aside) and definitely to be worried about.
How many lawsuits are gonna come out of all this, I wonder?
Scratch that...
How many frivolous lawsuits, are gonna come out of all this, I wonder?

We should stop calling this protest "Occupy Wall Street".
Obama has been using these to drum up sympathy for his cause, and it's time to make him own them.
Start calling them what they really are:
Obamaville
Spread the meme....
