Perry using Texas friends to kick-start voter outreach effort

Other professional groups are pitching in to help Perry. The Texas Medical Association’s political action committee recently endorsed him for president, and its members are helping him raise money and make connections with medical groups in other states.

Dr. John Gill, a Dallas orthopedic surgeon, said helping Perry tap into medical associations in a state like Florida could help him in the GOP primary.

“The medical community is well aware of what’s happening in Texas with tort reform” that strictly limited medical malpractice judgments, Gill said. “Most Republicans don’t like lawsuits and excessive litigation. … We’re trying to help him not only with medical groups, but we need to push his message to the general public.”

For some Iowa voters, though, Perry could do more to connect with farmers, by talking about his roots more.

“It doesn’t always come up, and certainly that’s a surprise to some people,” said Iowa Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey, who says he’s undecided in the contest.

But when he does, it can resonate.

“I’m looking at the corn being harvested right now and thinking about what this agriculture land is worth in Iowa,” Perry said. “You learn a lot growing up on a farm. It’s doesn’t make difference if it’s Wilton, Iowa, or Paint Creek, Texas. It’s the value of hard work. It’s the duty to family and country … those values you learn on a farm are pretty good values for the president of the United States.”

Perry has proposed reshaping the Environmental Protection Agency and doing away with regulations that hurt farmers and small businesses.

Of course. Anita also is not a Hillaryesque shrew.

I have been disgusted with the Freepers planting these kind of stories.

If you don't like his policies fine but some of these are clearly posts getting out ahead of stories that are coming out in the press.

I have never heard of Perry being a drunk and if he was we would know it here in Texas.

Tort reform, like what Governor Perry supported and passed in Texas, is good for us all. This article calls it a “stimulus.”

Rolling Stone mag called Perry "the human price tag." ("Rick Perry: The Best Little Whore In Texas" by Matt Taibi).

Self-serving, power-crazed Perry will do whatever is necessary----and be whoever those paying want him to be-----to advance himself and to put a buck in his pocket.

Expediency to advance his ambitions is A-OK.

Perry thinks anyone who dares disagree with "Mr Expediency" can go take a hike.

Remember that "morally superior" bully we saw in the debates?

It's clear there are operatives here on FR.

That's not clear at all. Don't go there, because "operatives" work on for every candidate and they're difficult to out and expose.

I have my suspicions about one or two, "operating" here, but I can't prove it, so I just ignore those two posters for the better part. One is for Perry and the other doesn't appear to like anyone...LOL.... which leads me to think "it" might be for the arrogant little Won, but only time will tell.

I met Governor Perry and got to spend a little time with him. His NH apearance comports with the time I spent in his company. To H-ll with the lamestream's opinion.

Hey Liz, your the one that compared Rick Perry to a rapist right? Of course you are.

here's another great quote from very liberal Matt Taibi

I liked Barack Obama a lot during the campaign. I was very impressed by his intelligence. I thought his heart is really in the right place. He seemed like a good person. And he had this [great] effect on people. There tends to be this anti-intellectual vibe in American politics, and he had the opposite impact on voters; when he spoke to them, he convinced them to think about things a little bit, which is a rare talent in American politics.

What I find amusing is that someone who is gullible enough to unquestioningly believe what a publication like Rolling Stone spews would expect to be taken seriously on a site like FR.

He looks like he's been studying George Bush's "folksy" mannerisms, but can't quite pull it off.

Incidentally, he does *look* tipsy, even though it's probably just painkiller for the back operation, or trying to hard to come across as folksy: but one thing it ISN'T, is Presidential.

Ahmedinejad would sooner wet his pants in fear over watching Palin than over that!

Oh, and don't forget...

Save a pretzel for the gas jets!

Cheers!

lol!

I think he looks and sounds like a cross between Al Gore and Courtney Love.

I'm not sure what caused that but his handlers have got to go nuts every time Perry steps before a camera. Incredible.

” Remember that “morally superior” bully we saw in the debates? “

All I saw was someone who is morally reprehensible.
