Occupy Wall Street is 99% dead: The media, once curious, has moved on

Here’s how the media are viewing the once-hottest news story:

Occupy Wall Street is 99% dead.

In the first phase of Occupy Wall Street, journalists were dazzled by the spirit and the anger of the participants. For a brief, flickering moment, the idea of rallying as an economically aggrieved 99% of the population had terrific potential.

Reporters trekked to Zuccotti Park to observe the latest link in the chain, advancing from the anti-Vietnam protests of the ‘60s and ‘70s to the anti-nuclear power demonstrations that followed it.

Now we’re seeing the lamentable second wave of the Occupy Wall Street story. The spirit has been muffled by people who want to cash in on the popularity of Occupy Wall Street and exploit the participants’ idealism.

Sure, the crowds of supporters and sympathizers will continue to gather at Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan, the starting point for what became a global movement. And yes, similar groups will congregate elsewhere around the world. You can be sure that this news story will rank prominently in those year-end retrospective pieces highlighting 2011.

I wrote in this space a few weeks ago that Occupy Wall Street would become corrupted by big business, which would exploit the popularity of the movement to sell blue jeans, t-shirts and beer. I wasn’t far off.

We’ve heard rumblings that MTV’s Real World is said to be scouting people between the ages of 20 and 24 for a series with an Occupy Wall Street theme.

In another sign that Occupy Wall Street is ripe for exploitation, there is actually a website called Hot Chicks of Occupy Wall Street...

Maybe it’s only fitting that the fleabaggers are collateral damage from Politico’s two mystery women Cain bombers. The left has shot itself in the foot again. LOL! Oh well. Time to go to bed.

"Hot chicks of Occupy" intrigued me. These people are either blind or drunk. Half of the chicks are heinous and they had to add a couple cops in there because the pickings were so slim. The few hotties were just there for the scene because they looked very put together for an encampment.

Get your barf bags ready...

OWS is dead until Zero sets up a patriot militia member for shooting several of the fleabaggers. Then there will be outrage, a crack down and civil war. Just wait Holder's gang tried to get the people's attention with the shootings of the Arizona Congresswoman and innocent Rats around her. They will stop at nothing to spark civil unrest.

Up next the Super-Committee will suggest the halt of unemployment checks. This will provoke a riot(s)

Not in south Florida. One of the so-called journalists in this town credited three dozen “occupy miami” whiners with reversing Bank of America’s debit card fee elimination. Yesterday, they walked to some bank and yelled in front of it for the TV cameras.

Anyone else in Florida see this??

Hmm...I would not be entirely surprised if the gals in pics #1 and #2 were born something other than XX-chromosome...

Closer to the election, will the tea parties rev up once more, or will we be content to just wait and vote?

Doesn’t the OWS protest mean that it’s more important now to amass and let Washington know how we really feel?

As a proud member of the private sector, I’m still angry, and still afraid of these people.

I live three hours south of DC, and I could pack up and go on a moment’s notice.

I think I went to college with the woman in pic 2. Seriously, the not only look alike, my classmate is now -according to my class directory- a lawyer with an NYC based not for profit. She was also very Liberal and way too into the whole social justice thing. So more points in favor of that being her.

My classmate was VERY attractive, but was pretty good at hiding it by dressing ... librarianish. Sort of in a Linda Carter - Diana Prince/Wonder Woman sort of way. But take off the glasses and put her in something less severe and more revealing and ... wow.
