SUNRISE— Disturbed by the prospect of lambs and goats being slaughtered in her city, Sunrise Commissioner Sheila Alu single-handedly blocked a Muslim religious ceremony set to take place on Sunday.
"Yes, I was trying to stop it," Alu said on Wednesday. "It's shut down. I'm trying to protect innocent animals. This is not an appropriate setting for the slaughtering of animals in an open field in a city that's as populated as Sunrise. Usually these religious ceremonies take place in a rural area."

I trust the commissioner has thought about the possibility that she could end up a target of perceived Muslim insult.
The attached poll is sad, it missed the key point, that the property owners DID NOT give permission for this.
So it would be trespass, the property caretaker did not have the authority to give permission.
As to how Muslims slaughter their meat, that’s the least of my concerns.
Their growing presence here is much more disturbing.

Bleeding to death doesn’t happen “in a couple seconds”. Once the first blood is smelled, the other animals will be terrified.
Killing one of God’s creatures to demonstrate fidelity to God is barbaric, & seems illogical, too.
There are similar cases invloving the Santaria religion which does animal sacrifices.
CAIR is going to make an issue of this just to make an issue.
