What settlements? At this point, we have not seen nor heard of ANY actual legal settlements.

Cain was told 10 days ago that Politico was “being told by another campaign of accusation against you for sexual harassment”. No facts, no evidence merely an anonymously sourced accusation.
Nice little circular argument the GOP Establishmentbots have manufactured to keep their slander attack at Cain going.
The only way Cain had to “clear himself” in advance from their slander attack is to violate a legal confidentiality agreement. So his only choice was to break the law thus opening himself to being sued in the midst of his campaign, or let himself be slandered.
Now because he did not choose to break the law to protect himself, he is now being accused by the GOP Establishment slanderbots of “botching the response”
How about this. Accusations have been made. Cain has refuted them. How about the accusers put up even 1 single shred of evidence to back up their accusations?

It's a choice one has to decide. Is it better to air it out beforehand, or wait until the press goes into a feeding frenzy 2 months before the primaries start? However, when you tell a group that there are no skeletons, a sexual harrassment accusation may be one of those things you might want to bring up.
Bush learned the hard way regarding the DUI story that broke the weekend before the election. He had no time to respond to it. But, he could have aired it out sooner and taken his lick then rather than the eve of the election. That story likely switched a few voted. In an election like 2000, a few votes went a long way.

Well, they didn't make up that two women filed harassment complaints. They didn't make up that there was a settlement. The harrassment complaints may have included made-up information, but that was "made up" back in the 1990s, and he knew about it.
Cain keeps trying to gloss over the point that the charges were FACT, not fiction. An harrassment complaint with a settlement is a "skeleton" -- one that can easily be explained, but that does require an explanation. He seems to think that if he says something should be ignored, it should be ignored. He also acts like if he says something, it must be taken as absolute truth, even if it's the opposite of what he said previously.
Which I guess is how things work in the corporate world, as president of Godfather's he just proclaimed things and people made them so. That's not how government works, but Cain wouldn't know that because he has no experience.
What did I accuse Cain of doing?
If you don't think this is a problem, just take a look at what's happening to him right now. Don't confuse me saying he's not handling this well with whether the accusations are true or not.
A fake story about a fake sexual harassment accusation is not a “skeleton” in anybody’s closet.
Cain has handled this fine IMO, since he was kept in the dark by his employer. He told what he knew, which was simply that the claim was false, and there was no way that he could have done more.
Perry’s scum crew knew more than Cain because they were slick lawyers that were in on the handling of the case, and illegally and improperly revealed facts that were concealed by agreement.
This skeleton is Perry’s alone.
Did I once ever even REMOTELY say or suggest that Cain did this stuff? No. I have only commented on his management of this issue, and the comment he made that that there are no skeletons.
Stop accusing me of saying Cain did whatever these women accused him of doing.
