Today comes another unsolicited breathless email from the National Resources Defense Council. In it we are informed that the Evil International Oil Interests, in their psychotic pursuit of profits over life, are about to murder the Spirit Bear population of Canada, a subspecies of the common American Black Bear. Read it here.
NRDC has been in the forefront of the effort to ban the use of all fossil fuels, the same insanity the Obama Administration has enjoyed in forcing the country to pay for the development of alternative power such as electric cars that have a range of 35 miles, solar power artifacts that cost three or four times per kilowatt as existing sources, dilithium crystal chambers, and dried, processed unicorn droppings. The current Occupy (insert name) crazies are flush with supporters of the NRDC. Watch for the picket signs.
The Spirit Bear so named by Native Americans because of its ghostly coat is simply a Black Bear with a fancier outfit. NRDC breathlessly claims that only 400 remain and they will all be road kill for the 18-wheelers that will roar back and forth to and from the oil tar sands of Canada. Even that is a lie. As a subspecies of the Black Bear (estimated population 720,000 1,000,000 +) it simply is not a separate endangered species.
The Canadian oil sands are so vast that it is estimated to hold twice the oil of Arabia and would allow North America to be independent from Middle East oil for a long time to come. Of course, to NRDC and its nutty allies, this may not be allowed to happen since it would laughingly end the Lefts psychotic demand for 100% clean energy.
Even the bears color is misrepresented. It is noted for about 1/10 of their population having white or cream-coloured coats. This colour morph is due to a recessive allele common in the population. They are not albinos[1] and not any more related to polar bears or the "blonde" brown bears of Alaska's "ABC Islands" than other members of their species.
In other words, 90% of this subspecies is black but carries the same recessive allele for a light coat. If 1/10 of the population is cream-colored but the entire population carries it, then 90% of the subspecies is black. This, in turn, means the entire subspecies population is between 4,000 and 10,000 individuals, not the Big Lie only 400 in NRDCs latest screed. (Here's an interesting idea: demand that NRDC open itself to an independent audit).
NRDC has used these animals before in similar attempts to block North Americans from using their own natural resources. In 1997, eco-fanatics backed by the seemingly endless donations from Marxist billionaires -- chained themselves to trees in an old growth forest to prevent logging while claiming that such cutting would make extinct you guessed it the Spirit Bear. The trees were eventually cut. Even among environmentalists, the effect of logging on this bear is open to question. . The bears remain, apparently uninterested in Leftist politics.
In this run-up to the fissionable 2012 elections, one expects these ever more shrill screeds will increase in frequency and volume. The Left knows it may be their last chance for the next 40 years to so harm the fossil fuel industry and "the ultra-rich" that it may take decades for oil to recover. Dont be too concerned for them. From the cushy towers of the NRDC to the feces-stained tents of the Occupy (insert name here) crowd, they will continue their attempt to bring down the country. Extinction of (insert species name here) is just the latest Big Lie.
The current Occupy (insert name) [The Poshlost Generation]crazies are flush with supporters of the NRDC.
The current Secretary of Commerce came from the National Resources Defense Council. So this should give you some idea of what we can expect in the future from the current administration.
The Secretary of Commerce directs and oversees NOAA , ocean fisheries , and several other Federal agencies .
Prepare for the worst, and expect the best.
E.colie..........
Filthy stinkin’ racists.....a black bear is a black bear.....they should be proud they’re black. Black bears! Embrace your blackness!
So what's new?
