It is unfortunate because I believe he began essentially as a really good guy but some where along the line he became more about preserving his power especially after McCain lost and truthfully I do not see him entirely as ‘the enemy’ but you are right he is a disappointment. I don’t like it when I see him gang up on and feed the monster that is the political class.

He IS the political class. The Bushes managed to co-opt mainstream Republicanism at the end of Reagan II because Dutch's people submarined him -- they wanted Bushism all along, and blocked any effort to anoint a conservative successor (for instance, creating placeholders like the earnest but slightly goofy Jack Kemp).
