>>>Like you know a secret and no one wants to hear it? The secret is: We are reliving the beginnings of Hitler’s Germany. Nazi Germany happened because the populace was just minding their business and trying to earn a living for their families, while evil was ignoring Germany’s laws and taking over the government. Same thing happening in the U.S.A. today. Our executive branch is being administered by evil, ignoring our laws, and taking over the government. This is what the Democrat party wanted??? Really???<<<

I agree with your premise. The end result of progressive, liberal, socialist - whatever name you want to give to government by elite planners - is totalitarianism. Did the Democrats want this? Did they have a choice on they embarked on their utopian vision of America?

However, I’m going to disagree with your conclusion. The United States is not Germany. Our cultures are distinct. The Germans had already been acculurated to the idea of benevolent kings - Bismark, Kaiser Wilhelm, the little princes in those tiny kingdoms that made up Germany after the 30 Years War. Hitler offered Germans a package that they could support.

Americanas are different. I don’t see a Hitler or a Stalin or a Pol Pot in our future. In fact, I see something far more sinister. I see lip service to individual rights, while the planners work in bureaucracies in far off Washington, D.C., hammering out regulations and rules about everything for everyone. Call it the Comintern with a nice appearance. You’ll get a chance to make your views known during the public comment period, and your ideas will make it into the regulations. Nice folks from the Dept. of Agriculture or the EPA or the Commerce Department will sit and chat and help you work through the red tape. It will be scrupulously fair. Your rights will be listed.

Slowly, slowly, the state will become involved in every aspect of life, even more than it is now, and you’ll be in a fog of regulation. You can listen to Rush complain about it, you can hear Levin rail about it, you can go to church and pray about it (although not in school), you can have all the guns you want. After all, who are you going to shoot - that nice neighbor just following rules written by some other guy just following the law? The president will be a marshmallow nothing, like Obama, and Leno and Letterman will mock him gently. Put it on your Facebook page. You’ve got a right.

Eventually, if you are really ornery, you’ll be asked to attend a workshop on citizenship at a swank hotel on the seaside with a free continental breakfast listening to pleasant speakers invite you to take part in activities designed to teach you new ways of thinking, after which you’ll sign a little contract promising not to be so loud and opinionated, and you should be lucky to have a job, so don’t complain about what you can and can’t say at work. The state will only need a few show trials every decade, well televised and reported in the media, to show everyone that following the rules is better than fighting them. After all, you still have your rights.

I think I’m correct about this. I hope I’m just a lunatic wearing a tin-foil hat. God help us.

You are probably correct. But why do the Democrats want this? Why do they want control over every aspect of our lives? I can’r wrap my mind around that kind of orderly evil.
