There is a compelling case that Iran is secretly building an arsenal of nuclear warheads, warns the United Nations.
As speculation mounts that Israel or the U.S. could lead a military strike against Iran, a report clearly rejects Tehrans claims its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes only.
Although the UNs International Atomic Energy Agency will stop short of explicitly saying Iran is making its own nuclear bombs, it will give plenty of new details.
Its report, due to be released next week, will also add to areas of concern that the UN has raised previously.
There are bits of it which clearly can only be for clandestine nuclear purposes, said an official.
It is a compelling case.
The IAEA will also make public findings which its authors say make little sense unless they are weapons-related.
Tehran denies secretly trying to develop nuclear weapons, insisting it is enriching uranium for reactors to generate electricity.
But Iran has become increasingly belligerent in recent weeks and last night tensions were continuing to mount over its ambitions.

Oh, no! Weapons of mass destruction. Let’s go to war against Iran. Then we’ll have fighting troops in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and a hundred or so other places on peace missions.
Why haven’t we nuked North Korea and put the poor peasants out of their dire misery?
Oh, I know. China is NK’s big daddy and they might call in all the debt we owe.
America never paid attention as to what happened to the UK after WWI and WWII. We replaced them. Now it’s our turn.
Well, duh.
Gotta wonder what the UN has as an agenda. It clearly backs the Israel/U.S. haters and cannot want a preemptive strike on Iran. It's been a dark comedy from the outset. Let's pray that the fallout (no pun intended) isn't a global disaster because the stage has certainly been set.
I think they’ll pull the trigger on them this coming Friday.
Be all over before the Sabbath starts...
Israel..maybe...USA never. Bro against Bro. That would be like civil war. Not unless Obama really needs to "Wag the Dog" around October 2012.
Can't be true.
The New York Times assured us that Iran had ceased its nuclear Weapons programs.
All Iran wants is peaceful nuclear energy.
That's what the New York Times told us when Pres. Bush was ready to attack Iran's nuclear facilities.
Don't believe me? Click here
Obama has a special team to handle these minor issues.
Well,
I don’t think we are quite as limp as they were/are.
Eventually, to handle this we need to move away from troops on the ground to using big weapons to make points and destroy resources (machine and human).
MOABs, targeted strikes at leaders, non-stop cruise strikes on military facilities.
No need to invade, just keep setting these places back by 50 years, again and again, and again.
Oh and you’ll also need to end Muslim immigration.
His problem is, he has no clue who the perpetrators were. They did the deeds, slipped away into the night and said nothing.
I'm shocked.
Reverse Muslim immigration and kick out all those who have glued themselves to America! The Mexicans go too with those who call themselves Americans but hyphenate their ‘type’ of American
English only!
He stands to lose a substantial minority of his base if he gets involved in this. By starting discussion now, he is capable of playing it politically either way over the next 12 months depending on which way the wind blows through the polls.
Have you given any thought to Iran’s behavior once they have deliverable nuclear weapons?
Are you such a military tactician that you believe troops on the ground in Iran would be part of any effort to eliminate their nuke weapons?
Yes Alice, it would be nice if we could all just get along, but then there’s the real world.
Funny, they go from pursuing nuclear weapons to missile warheads.
No intermediate step ,ie, testing, miniaturization.
If they have warheads, and I think it’s likely, they got them from N. Korea or Pakistan.
.
I'm shocked.
So is my wife.
