How much is trades daily on the stock markets? There are 1.3 Billion shares traded every day. That works out to 298 Billion a year, figuring in 260 trading days. That is just the NYSE. 13 Billion shares are traded on the NASDAQ per year. That is 311 Billion shares, .01% of that would be 31 Billion shares, times that by the shares worth. You get a HUGE number.

My public education says that 31 billion is 10% of 311 billion.

And we have a $3.8 trillion annual budget. So if Wall Street paid a $10 tax on every share traded, we would still have an annual budget deficit.

But I think that if you did impose a $10 tax on every share traded, you would soon find out that far, far fewer than 311 billion shares get traded as a result.
