(Reuters) - Three activists protesting economic inequality were struck by a car and mildly injured late on Friday night as they attempted to block traffic near a gathering of conservatives in the nation's capital, police said on Saturday.
The protesters, who were transported to area hospitals with no signs of visible injury, were cited for obstructing traffic late on Friday night, said Araz Alali, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department.
"The driver saw he had the green light and the protesters then basically jumped in front of the vehicle to block traffic," Alali said. "It appears that the protesters jumped into the path of the vehicle."
Angry protesters circled the vehicle after it struck the protesters, police said. The driver was not cited.
The incident occurred on Friday as hundreds of protesters affiliated with the "Occupy DC" movement gathered near a convention center in Washington, D.C. where the conservative "Defending the American Dream Summit" was being held.

I think, if this is the same incident I read about elsewhere, the car was a Mercedes. Hope the struck ‘protesters’ carry health insurance instead of sticking the citizens of DC with their ER costs, and that they come from one of the wealthier parishes and can pay back the car owner for repairs. Fat chance on both wishes.
Wait until the election when they "spontaneously" turn to widespread political violence.

I don't advocate actively running these idiots down; but there are natural consequences to jumping in front of a moving vehicle, whether it might be a Mercedes or an armored bulldozer.
Those people who do pull these stunts are the same people who would rather swerve head on into an oak tree trunk rather than run over the squirrel running across the road.
They think everyone has that mentality.
Either that or they believe their numbers will protect them from the front wheel.
I’m just amazed at the navel-gazing aguish over Rachel Corrie. At 24 years old, she must have known that a game of chicken with a bulldozer would not end well.
She was as foolish as those three peacenicks who got themselves captured “hiking” into Iran over the Iraqi border.

She simply didn’t realize that the operator couldn’t see through the metal armor plating which was installed to protect the driver from the rocks, bottles, etc, thrown by her peace loving Palestinian pals.

We had a court date to show up in court, we showed up on time, but there was never any charges filed against us.

A bunch of illegals had come in and were trying to take over the bar and turn it into a Mexican bar.
About 5 or six had surrounded my buddy at the juke box and told him he couldn't play any music except what they wanted.
One of the illegals told another one to go get Big John.

My buddy turned around to look at Big John, and Big John almost crapped his pants.
The guys name wasn't John, my buddy had taken to calling him Harold for some reason, said he looked like a Harold.
My buddy reached up and grabbed him by the ear and gave it a good twist and said hello Harald, are these your friends?
My buddy said “Harold you and your friends are going to leave and not come back.”
One of the illegals asked Big John if he was going to let him talk to him like that.
Harold said yes there's two of them in here.
I damn near fell out of my chair laughing.
The bartender lost it when my buddy led Harold out the door by his ear and all the illegals followed.
We drank free beer all night.
