Sorry, Johnnie, but what does that have to do with this article?
Nicely done, Herman. :)
It will be nice to see a First Lady who is a Lady!
That is one good looking family. Go, Cain!
Oh, my! No wiki page! Whatever shall we do?!?!
She does have a lovely smile.
I don’t think so, I think more like what Cheney has.
She’s a democrat, FYI.
And?
She was a registered Democrat until 2004. I’m pro-Cain, but I’m curious how many liberal views she still has, and how much influence she will have on Herman.
No “and”. It is what it is.
WOW! What a beautiful family. They just seem to radiate happiness.
That is a valid question, and may be part of why Mrs. Cain has kept out of the limelight. She wouldn't be the first Republican first lady to be less conservative than her husband; Mrs. Ford, Mrs. Reagan, and at least the first Mrs. Bush come to mind, and probably the second Mrs. Bush as well. Have we really had any Republican first lady since Mrs. Nixon and Mrs. Eisenhower who wasn't less conservative than her husband?
On the other hand, let's give Mrs. Cain a break — just how many black Republicans are there? It's a major, major decision for a black person to self-identify as a Republican, and we need to be understanding of that. There was a day, after all, that Jesse Helms was viewed as utterly crazy for joining the Republican Party.
Unfortunately, a political wife who isn't involved in her husband's campaigns leads to questions about “why not.” From experience, it is a yellow flag (not a red flag, but yellow) that a man's wife may not support her husband's campaign or has something to hide. Also from experience, politicians who are philanderers routinely have wives who stay out of their husbands’ public careers, though the reverse is not necessarily true. Some women just hate politics and a political wife not campaigning doesn't necessarily mean anything other than that the politician's wife would rather stay at home and be a wife and mother.
If Mrs. Cain has medical problems that's an entirely legitimate reason. I sincerely hope for both of their sake that whatever medical problems Mrs. Cain may have don't get made much worse by the rigors of campaigning.
Campaigns are tough at best, and at the presidential level, they are often nasty, brutal and filled with vicious innuendo and gossip. I hope Mrs. Cain knew what she was getting into when her husband decided to run for president. The day that she got dragged into the campaign was inevitable if her husband ever broke out of the pack of “also rans” and became a serious contender. I really, really, really hope for the sake of the Cain family that they gave real consideration to what would be necessary if Cain ran for president and became a top contender, because if the family didn't, they're going to have chaos.
Do you ave a link on this?
Cain explained this about Gloria from the beginning (May)
Dont expect the traditional amount of exposure you normally get from a campaign wife, Cain said about his wife, Gloria. Shes not going to do that.
Cain, a charismatic orator known for riling up crowds at Tea Party events, said his wife of almost 43 years doesnt desire to be the center of attention on stage or on TV.
My wife is one of the most unassuming, not-looking-for-the-limelight-people youve ever met, he said during a phone interview in between campaigning in Nashville. And Im going to keep it that way. Im not going to push her out there to try to do things she doesnt want to do. Thats not her personality.
