PALATINE, Ill.— Illinois residents cast ballots Saturday in a statewide straw poll that sought to determine their unofficial preference for the Republican presidential nomination.

Online voting started Oct. 29 and paper balloting was to go on throughout the day Saturday at about two dozen sites across Illinois. By Saturday morning 2,400 online ballots were filed, Illinois Republican Party Chairman Brady said.

Herman Cain, Romney, Newt, Perry, and all the others, except Huntsman.

That’s my guess.

Hard to tell what they'll do in Illinois. Remember, their "criminal class" turned into a political party back in the 1930s, then sometime in the 1980s they were the first on board the idea of turning Negroes into a political party.

Those large broad factions then affiliated with the Democrats.

I suppose it was beneficial to the degree it tended to squeeze the Commies out of their former top end control of the Chicago machine, but it hasn't benefited anyone else in the country.

It's difficult to be a Conservative in Illinois since just about everybody lives in one or the other Democrat "tax farms".

It's very Ottoman out there.

No, Romney will likely win as conservatives in IL will largely avoid giving $ to the corrupt state apparatus.

I think they want $ before you vote! Screw that!

That gives a whole new meaning to the term "Poll tax "!

Article states ‘voters’ must give a $5 donation to the State GOP to vote. Not perfect, but a good way to keep Libs from stacking the vote. If you think of it as a fund raiser and not a vote, perhaps it’s not as distasteful.

The $5 fee going to the Illinois GOP, kept me from considering to vote.

The Illinois GOP handed us Barak Obama. No thanks.

That’s why I would not vote. I’m not giving them $5 to waste. I want to send my money to individual candidates. Remember most of Illinois is red. The rest of the state can’t out vote the Chicago area. I saw another poll from downstate Illinois and Hermain Cain had a very big lead.

I didn’t vote for two reasons.

Two years ago, when I ran for state rep., in the 17th District, Chairman Brady endorsed my moderate primary opponent. I think that the state party chairman should be neutral, before the primary.

I endorse Gov. Buddy Roemer, and his name wasn’t on the ballot.
