Sorry, it is 2 am, and I am 73. Time for bed. Caracas in 1812. Then again maybe Chavez will catch what he has coming.

“The Narrows quake emptied my cousins pool and pretty much destroyed everything in their home.”

Funny you should mention that, I know of the same thing happening due to the Sylmar quake.

A family in the Fullerton hills (what would that be, 40 miles from Sylmar?). Their daughter had just walked into the kitchen going past the sliding glass doors that led to the pool.

The quake hit and all of the water in the pool lifted out and headed straight for the sliding glass doors.

It blasted through them like a tsunami and glass, water, furniture and everything else roared through the house.

Made a hell of a mess. When they repaired the house they had the pool removed.

I think the ground around New Madrid stores more energy than what we do in California.

So while we have more earthquakes, you will have bigger ones.

My family moved to Yorba Linda.

After my husband and I moved to Memphis, Tn., my mother who was still in SoCal was scared to death that we were going to b e hit b y a tornado, not realizing that Memphis is dead center on the New Madrid fault.

“My family moved to Yorba Linda.”

Brush fires. Earthquakes. All they need is a good mudslide or two courtesy of el nino.

Felt this one in OK, live in Canadian county. Thought it was a big gust of wind, windows shaking, ceiling fan creaking. Thought it strange for a wind gust. Then I thought Earthquake, but thought it was my imagination.

The quakes started in 1811 and ended in spring 2012. A powerful quake was also felt in and around Caracas, Venezuela, killing around 20,000 people in March 2012.

Premonitions or typos?

These are really shallow quakes, only about 3 or 4 miles deep. Makes’em that much closer to home. So to speak.

Is it or isn’t it New Madrid related. I read that it is an unrelated set of faults but then this is from wiki:

“In a report filed in November 2008, The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency warned that a serious earthquake in the New Madrid Seismic Zone could result in “the highest economic losses due to a natural disaster in the United States,” further predicting “widespread and catastrophic” damage across Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and particularly Tennessee, where a 7.7 magnitude quake or greater would cause damage to tens of thousands of structures affecting water distribution, transportation systems, and other vital infrastructure.[22] The earthquake is expected to also result in many thousands of fatalities, with more than 4,000 of the fatalities expected in Memphis alone.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Madrid_Seismic_Zone

This list of states matches the list shown on Drudge, I think

It’s Ronald Reagan’s fault. He was there once just a short distance from St. Gregory’s. And there is always the old standby curse of the Shawnee Chief Cornstalk for an explanation—one of my distant relatives survived one of his documented massacres.

I really do not think these OK quakes are New Madrid related. If New Madrid's fault system were the cause, the epicenter would be somewhere in that system, where the slip/energy was the source.

The areas in Central Oklahoma where there have been quite a few earthquakes over the last few years, is a unique and known seismic area.

The intensity of these latest shakers, I believe, is related to something more profound. But what?

I'm thinking the asteroid coming close next week and other solar system events are the causes.
