I’m in OC and never really minded quakes until Sylmar and Northridge. Those two had me hiding under the bed and I was a long way from the epicenter. They were 6.6 and 6.7 respectively.
The only time I suffered property damage was with the Whittier Narrows quake. It was a 5.9 and the fault runs real close to my house.

I live ed in Whittier for 26 years. The Narrows quake emptied my cousins pool and pretty much destroyed everything in their home.
