William the Bastard's invasion of England in 1066 was illegal--all of the regimes ruling England since the battle of Hastings have been illegitimate.

As Thomas Paine said in Common Sense, "A French bastard landing with an armed banditti, and establishing himself king of England against the consent of the natives, is in plain terms a very paltry rascally original."

William the Bastard's invasion of England in 1066 was illegal--

The Pope said it was OK. The same justification for all attempted foreign invasions of England up to Napoleon.
