Romney, Always Campaigning for Others...and for Himself (politicians feeding at the trough)
New York Times ^ | November 5, 2011 | NICHOLAS CONFESSORE and ASHLEY PARKER

Posted on 11/06/2011 2:11:50 PM PST by bobk333

..money is the tool Mr. Romney has deployed the most widely. In the last three years, a constellation of political action committees set up by Mr. Romney in states like Alabama, Michigan and New Hampshire has tapped into his far-flung network of national donors.

In turn, an analysis by The New York Times determined, those committees, under the names Commonwealth PAC and Free and Strong America PAC, have made contributions totaling more than $400,000 to about 300 local elected officials and party organizations in 31 states. Mr. Romney’s federal political action committee has donated an additional $1.2 million, including checks to most Republican members of Congress.

The timing of Mr. Romney’s donations can seem calculated. In July 2010, a Romney PAC sent a $1,000 check to Georgia’s secretary of state, Karen Handel, the day after she came in first in the Republican primary for governor. That September, a few weeks after Ms. Handel lost a runoff to Nathan Deal, Mr. Romney sent another $1,000 — this time to Mr. Deal.

“Sometimes it’s who buys the front seat on the train,” said David Ralston, the speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives. “So I’m not sure that giving to Secretary Handel before he gave to Governor Deal was good timing on his part.”

..Perhaps no state has benefited from Mr. Romney’s generosity as much as New Hampshire, whose primary he is determined to win and where his political action committees have invested about $100,000 during the last two years.

Virtually no level of New Hampshire government has gone untouched by Mr. Romney’s largess. Every Republican candidate for the State Senate received $1,000 last September, with cash also going to various other candidates, along with Republican county and town organizations.

This is what we are fighting against.

This is politics as usual. Everyone is feeding at the trough of special interest money. This is what feeds Establishment politics.

It is a corrupt system where politicians serve only the special interests who keep them in power instead of the people.

This is why our government, economy and country are in such a mess. We can't fix our problems until we throw people like Romney, and all the other politicians who are in on the fix, out of office.

Tea Party, please take note! We cannot align ourselves with the politicians who are taking Perry's money. We must oppose them and send them packing.

I noticed that after I posted it, but I don’t think there is any way to correct it.

Yes, I meant Romney; but Perry is totally a part of that corrupt system, with his “friends” in the media saying he is going to make a comeback based only on his millions of dollars of special interest money.

Hillary perfected this endorsement buying to a fine art. At least she was the most obvious about doing so. That’s why when in the end they dumped her over for the organizer in chief, it was a real betrayal.

This means our guy has to really match up with strength against Romney because a lot of money has exchanged hands to guarantee his nomination. They didn’t really LIKE Hillary but thought in the beginning she was obviously going to win and after all had bothered to butter their bread. People don’t really LIKE Romney either, but in the beginning thought him the choice of the establishment machine, the Bushes, Rice & Rove, Jeb, Rubio, etc. It just is going to take a strong candidate against Romney, as the orgainizer was against Hillary, to change the end game.

I think the US is in a new age, however. The American sheeple are so infatuated with personality and celebrity that the candidate who wins will be the one they find the most likable. It doesn’t matter what a person has done or is accused of doing, if the American people like him (or her) - all is forgiven. People like Bill Clinton, they liked Michael Jackson, they like Obama, and they like Herman Cain. I submit that our next president will be the person that gives Americans that warm and fuzzy feeling they love so much. They don’t want a president; they want a daddy.

Mitt is not liked, so if he buys, er wins, the nomination, he will lose the election. You heard it here first, folks. :-)
