After 9-11, when President Bush said “Islam is a religion of peace”, we assumed he was telling the truth because we were as stupid about Islam as he was. Since then some of us have become more informed. There are still some NPR listeners who believe that Islam is equivalent to just about any other religion, but they are becoming fewer. When people learn about the ‘prophet’ Mohammed, and see that he was something of a psychopath, and therefore Islam is a theology of a psychopath, perhaps something will be done about it.

Now we have a dyed-in-the-wool America-hating Muslim-Communist in the White Hut surrounded by like-minded sycophants. If we don't get this POS evicted we are, indeed, lost. Our nation and our Constitution are in tatters now; in fact, both the Democrats and their infamous friends the Republicrats have been using it and our flag as toilet paper.

The real problem with the assertion "Islam is a religion of peace" is that, like the deception in the Garden, the lie is deeper than the surface meaning:

Islam does indeed promise and preach peace, but the Mohammedan conception of peace is so severely defective the prima facia true assertion, "Islam is a religion of peace," becomes a lie. (Just as the Evil One's conception of life and death were so defective that the prima facia true "you will not die" -- neither Adam nor Eve died in the material sense we post-lapsarian humans and the already lapsed serpent use the word "die" -- was a lie, as mankind died to God in the Fall.)

The Semitic root slm is common to both islam = submission, and salem = shalom = peace. The only peace Muslims can conceive is the peace between conqueror and conquered, the peace between master and slave. Even "Islam means peace" is only a lie deep down, as to the Muslim peace and submission are identical. There are no negotiated peace treaties in Islamic law, only "hudna", ceasefires of at most ten-years duration, which Muslims are wont to break on any pretext if it is to their military and political advantage. There is no spiritual peace that a Christian or Buddhist or Hindu would recognize as such in Islam, only the peace between cowering slaves and the arbitrary tyrant that Muslims understand Allah to be.

Bush's statements may have been made out of sheer ignorance, wishful thinking, the friendly treatment he and others have had with individual Muslims (most people tend to drop their antagonisms when dealing on a person to person level), or in the interest of limiting the "war" to sub-groups that could be isolated from the general Muslim population.

But one point of confusion (that has been discussed and clarified countless times here at FR) is that the Arabic word for "peace" and the verb for "submit" sound very similar but have completely different roots. The word "Islam" derives from the latter and that fact is all one really needs to know about the whole religion. If any religion (including so-called Satanism, Wicca, whatever) can be described as homicidal in its principles and Infernal in its origins it's Islam.
