Report: Michael Vick most disliked

Updated: November 7, 2011, 3:36 PM ET

Michael Vick has come all the way back from prison to star in the NFL again. But he apparently still won't win a popularity contest among the league's fans.

Vick

Forbes.com reported Monday that Vick is the NFL's most disliked player, according to a poll by Nielsen and E-Poll Market Research. Forbes.com reports that 60 percent of those polled picked said they "dislike," "dislike somewhat," or "dislike a lot" the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback.

Second on the list was New York Jets receiver Plaxico Burress at 56 percent, who also has returned from a prison stay, followed by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who was accused of sexual assault last year but wasn't charged.

One of the best? This theme seems to recur throughout the media but the truth is Vick hasn’t won much of anything despite his apparently superior talent.

Michael Vick Jeopardy!

Clue: QBs Brady, Roethlisberger, McNabb, P. Manning, Delhomme, Brunell, Hasselbeck, Rodgers, Sanchez, Brees, Flacco, E. Manning, Rivers, and Grossman all have this in common.

Correct response: Who are the active QBs that have more playoff wins - but far less hype in many cases - than Michael Vick?

I am a Gator, but to put Grossman in there is just...wrong. The bears won in spite of him, not because of him. McNabb is the ultimate choke artist. I was at the Super Bowl in Jax when he choked...again.

I am an Eagles fan, but not a Vick fan. I was extremely mad when they released Brian Dawkins (runner up NFL Man of the Year) and picked up Vick. Vick does need to prove himself in the playoffs though.

Roethlisberger gets my vote. I am convinced he is a rapist.

Same here. I don’t dislike Romo, but he’s been a damn magnet for criticism. It’s just that he’s a choker, and that’s it. The rest of the stuff is just silly.

It’s strictly a statistical listing. All those listed have won more playoff games than Vick who has 2.

Well, you gotta admit that Romo is a babe magnet. Maybe it’s the dimples. Jessica Simpson was a big mistake but Carrie Underwood was also in love with him. What a gorgeous lady she is.

But I think he was wise to marry a much more low-key (though equally beautiful) woman, and by the way, they are expecting.

Doug Williams and Trent Dilfer have more Superbowl wins than Dan Marino.

I don't follow the NFL, but I read. Boy do I read. Were I required to place a bet, my money would be on . . . rapist.

Yeah and the NFL is a bunch of depraved greedy people for letting him ever set foot on a field again.

Right - I didn’t say I had a problem with Romo, but I remember the uproar about Carrie and then Jessica. Carrie was upset that Dallas fans were blaming her for the loss at the game she attended. Heard Romo and new wife were expecting in the context that he scored at least once. Dallas fans can be brutal.

Eagles hype train derailed! At least 20 ESPN and Chicago tribune sportswriters are feared dead, crushed under the weight of foolish group thinking and drawing false conclusions (like beating a hapless bunch of Dallas Cowgirls meant anything!).

Don’t know why Cutler is on this list BTW.

ESPN is awful. After the game the first question asked of Cutler was ‘what did you think of Vick’s play?’

On today’s ESPN site the listed Vick as top performer for the game. Cutler threw for a higher yds per pass, had two TDs to Vick’s zero and had zero interceptions to Vick’s one.

I think Cutler’s ratings was about 90 while Vick’s was about 50. Go figure.

I wanted to reach through my TV and strangle Jon Gruden. Makes Joe Buck seem honest and pro-Chicago by comparison.

Love that Jay threw no picks, liked the D stepped up, I like Wright making up for his mistake by the pick off.

Overall I give them a B-, I give O Line an A+ for no sacks, and Jay actually used the shot gun several times. I thought I was dreaming.

I wish the Bears were never on ESPN or that they'd give us the option of having non biased announcers for the Chicago viewers.

And no we can't link up WBBM Radio because there is a time gap from radio to TV.
