You know, you have to have lived a little to know how capable people are of being liars and con artists.
In my short life I have known of a girl who wore a fake cast in college and doctored her brothers’ x-rays to lie to professors that she had cancer; The same girl called her boyfriend’s parents once and told them he was on his way to her house with a gun (he wasn’t), A woman at work lied about a rape to explain to her boyfriend where she was one night (ultimately confessed), another one accused her ex of molesting their toddler daughter to get leverage in a divorce settlement.
The list is endless. this stuff goes on.
People who DO NOT Lie tend to get conned because they believe everyone else is telling the truth too.
The medical term is 'projection' and it is when you attribute traits you possess to everyone else
For example: Liars always think everyone else is lying. Scientists often think everyone else is as logical and analytical as them. This is why Conservatives cannot believe how stupid liberals are (because we tend to think everyone is as smart as us)- and why liberals always think conservatives are lying (because they are liars themselves)
Until you have lived a little and you recognize it, it is hard to process info in other ways.
