Police will get tough on ‘Occupy D.C.’ protesters
Washington Times ^ | 11-7-11 | Meredith Somers

Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier said Monday that her department is adjusting its tactics in response to Occupy D.C.’s “increasingly confrontational and violent” demonstrations, following the actions of other U.S. cities looking to evict — or at least crack down — on what officials are characterizing as unruly protesters.

The chief’s tough talk changed the tone of what had been about a month of congenial relations between protesters and authorities. It came after a Friday night incident in which several people attending a downtown event where the protesters were demonstrating were hurt...........

Protesters say police refused to arrest a Maryland man for striking multiple demonstrators with his car Friday night and did not collect witness statements from at least two of the victims.

Police dispute the protesters’ account. Chief Lanier said the demonstrators have become “increasingly confrontational and violent toward uninvolved bystanders and motorists.”

So, the DC po-po is going to get tough on protestors?

Does this include the disrupters and assaulters of the TEA party meeting the other day, or just folks in their “luxury cars” who refuse to yield to the mob?

From now on, the Occupiers will only be allowed to shove people younger than 75 years old down flights of stairs.

They’ll have to burn down DC before Chief Lanier can be prodded to act decisively against them.

Keep those calls going folks..it is starting to work. I talked to several people in the police department and the mayor’s office yesterday trying to figure out who is responsible for controlling this mob and who issued the permits and for where. The ‘powers’ are starting to sweat. I suggest we also call the Department of Interior today because Salazer and his merry band of commuthugs are responsible for crowd control on federal land. I was told that the occuscum only has a permit for Freedom Plaza..not the other place ‘McPherson Square’ where they are squatting.

They need to hear from concerned citizens. My other question to them yesterday was whether the Occuscum permit allowed them to travel throughout the whole city terrorizing conservative forums and private citizens...pushing old women down stairs, blocking traffic and threatening motorists.

Did you read about the head of Oakland Police Union response to their Mayor?

The head of the union that represents Oakland's police officers said today that officers are "very confused" about what he said are mixed messages from the city's leaders about the Occupy Oakland encampment in front of City Hall.

"Someone needs to step up and lead the city," said Sgt. Dom Arotzarena, of the Oakland Police Officers Association.

In an open letter to Oakland residents, Arotzarena said that on Oct. 25, Mayor Jean Quan ordered police "to clear out the encampments at Frank Ogawa Plaza and to keep protesters out of the plaza."

He said, "We performed the job that the mayor's administration asked us to do, being fully aware that past protests in Oakland have resulted in rioting, violence and destruction of property."

But Arotzarena said that on Oct. 26, the following day, "the mayor allowed protesters back in--to camp out at the very place they were evacuated from the day before."

To add to the confusion, he said, Quan's administration issued a memo on Friday giving all employees, except for police officers, permission to take the day off during a general strike scheduled for Wednesday.

Arotzarena said, "That's hundreds of city workers encouraged to take off work to participate in the protest against 'the establishment.' But aren't the mayor and her administration part of the establishment they are paying city employees to protest?"

Arotzarena said, "It is all very confusing to us."

I think a more applicable term would be Cannon Fodder.

I read that the SF Chronicle reported that Mayor Quan of Oakland was not only encouraging the Occupy goons, but that her husband marched with the group that shut down the port last week.

The leftist mayors of these cities have got to stop tolerating or encouraging this.

If I were a tax payer in such a city it would cause me to question why I should pay my taxes. "I'm sorry, you say I owe taxes but the Mayor said all this was wrong, suggest you get with the Mayor to clear this up matter and get back to me......"

That’s okay. Officials would not mind occupying your property should you not pay your taxes.

Maybe the money that is left in Oakland should all pull out right now and look for greener pastures....just leave en masse.....unless,of course, they all support this collection of nitwits,half-wits,dim-wits (ok,go ahead and insert Headly Lamarr here LOL)....in which case, just put a fence around the city and let 'em have at it.
