What is this fertilization business? What happened to life begins at conception?

Fertilization: Sperm meets egg.

Conception: Embryo implants in uterine wall.

Wonder how this would effect the legality of birth control that prevents implantation of embryos. I think condoms, IUDs, and other barriers that prevent fertilization directly would stay legal, but I’m not a lawyer so I’m a little fuzzy on the specifics.

Mother is now defined as a machine.

I like the personhood concept. Need to hear from freezers on this issue.

I go back to the movie, I think it was The Cardinal. The mother’s life vs the baby’s life. If it came down to that, say in an emergency or surgery, why would the law mandate the decision. Why couldn’t the mother make the call.

Is this a common scenario? If not, I still would let the mother make the call.

What say anyone?

Conception: Embryo implants in uterine wall.

Incorrect, conception is defined as the moment in time the sperm fertilizes the oocyte. Implantation is when the embryo attaches to the uterine wall.

If that was the case, then the time between fertilization and conception, the joined sperm and egg would not be a human being.
