That is what appears to happen on the temperature model prediction runs. The Arctic Blast, which has built up in the Yukon and sent some trains of cold down toward Idaho/Montana, will somehow get pulled south back out over the pacific and then slam into the west coast. That appears to be very cold. That then travels due east and sets up the first cold run toward Florida. Kinda figured something was causing that. Will try to figure out how the trough pulls that off in your link.

At any rate, good article about this Yukon Blast appeared below. We are in historical territory, but heck that seems to happen all the time anyway around here.
