I KNOW NY gets a bum rap. I was born and raised there to 4th and 5th generation New Yorkers, and to this day know several conservatives leading quiet lives there, even in Manhattan.
I blame it all on NY’s being so attractive it draws libs from all over the country. The natives tend to be more conservative than the imports. We saw that writ large back in 2001.
What’s encouraging is that the state is going red.
Here in CNY, we had a race for congressman that Ann Marie Buerkle won by a slim margin, defeating the Dem.
The North country would have been red as well, but there was a conservative candidate who siphoned off votes and the dem won by default. The problem was that the guys name was on the ballot and he was too late to have it withdrawn. He actually asked his supporters to not vote for him but rather the R candidate who would have won if the vote hadn’t split. They didn’t and the rest is history, but I’ll bet next time that district goes red for sure.
