When Herman Cain held the long-awaited news conference late Tuesday afternoon to tackle allegations that he sexually harassed four women, a smooth-talking Southern attorney was the first person to step to the microphone.
Cain’s lawyer is L. Lin Wood, a well-known Atlanta-based trial attorney who has carved out a successful career representing the high-profile and falsely accused, often seeking eye-popping damages for those he believes have been libeled or slandered in the press.
Former CBS news anchor Dan Rather once called Wood the “attorney for the damned.”
When asked why he had chosen to represent Cain, Wood cited the media circus.
“I have spent many years representing clients who have seen their reputations and lives destroyed by false accusations in the media,” Wood wrote in an e-mail message to The Post Tuesday evening. “I believe that Herman Cain has been unfairly put on trial in the court of public opinion based on reports from unknown or anonymous sources, rumor, speculation and inherently improbable statements by the most recent accuser.”

Yes, that’s what I’ve also been saying. I would immediately contribute, knowing it was going to such a good cause.
“If you’re going to go to war—and I do adopt the philosophy that every lawsuit is a war and each step along the way can be described as a battle—then you’ve got to believe in what you’re fighting for and in the person you’re fighting for,” Wood told the Chicago Tribune. “I do that.”
I think her comment about, “stimulus packages” would probably pass the smell test, if she’s not attributing it as a quote, it would just be dramatics.
It’s low, but not necessarily unethical.
Assuming it all turns out that Cain is innocent, she is also obligated to stop representing her client in this manner the moment Allred realizes it.
The Law Society does not take kindly to lawyers who, knowingly, pursued false claims.
Agree with you statement. Mr. Cain saw a person with value and hired him. I like his approach.
And maybe Romney and Perry Campaigns. Who knows he may want to be AG and go after Frank and Dodd, Holder. Just dreaming.

The current onslaught? He will be hounded with such trash right up to election day, if he makes that far.
For over three years they came at Sarah Palin with any and all fallacious dirt filled tactics they could come up with. They finally succeeded in their goal, with no small help from many so called conservatives.
So to think this will blow over is mere whistling past the graveyard, evil never sleeps, nor relents.

I always had questions...my opinion wavered...I sensed some hype and showmanship I didn't like and I didn't like the I don't recall at first...and so it goes..and I never liked national sales tax
I can see why Cain's zealots are denying and defending him against the media double standard..since there is indeed a disgusting media double standard.
But were this a Democrat with now 5 allegations and 2 settlements/severances..folks were would not be so understanding...

If it comes down to that, my vote goes to Seamus. Natural born American canine (the dual citizenship with Ireland is a drooling birfer issue). Aged 35+ in dog years. More shovel-ready (and at least one hose-ready) jobs than the incumbent. What's not to like?

Well, gee, what are we going to do?
The lowly, unethical, no holds barred dems are going to attack the biggest threat to their loss of power. Notice it seems to be the most conservative one around. Why would that be? Maybe it is because they do not want any R to get power - but especially they do not want a Tea Party conservative.
Why would that be? Because the whole Washington group - GOP and Democrat like their status quo, their perks, their life time salaries. And the tea party candidates are going to change Washington.
So, we either find the magic candidate that is untouchable by their slandering or we have to realize that we too fight for those that will change Washington.
I will not allow the media or the GOP to determine who I vote for.
