And that’s the key to a successful presidency.

1. You can’t win on defense.

2. You must pick capable and loyal* people.

*to the philosophical goals of your presidency.

Newt’s problems may be old news not the MSM will put a new spin
on it. Every interview I have seen it is brought up .

Newt’s baggage has facts - so far Cain’s are all allegation.

Interesting that Perry and his Mormonism has not gotten any play.

I think it's you who needs to pay more attention.

The mugshot does not address the assertion that Cain has an ability to pick superbly qualified people. Whether Block is a superbly qualified person is irrelevant to that. You're just doing what the left and the media are doing - throwing crap even if meaningless. Why is as yet unknown.

All you have done is put forth one individual who you assert is not superbly qualified by your judgment...which is obviously clouded. Has Mr. Cain risen in the polls farther than expected? Has Mr. Cain risen in the polls faster than expected? Has Mr. Cain stayed atop the polls longer than expected? Has Mr. Cain raised more money than expected? And you assert Mr. Block is not superbly qualified... really?

So besides throwing out a negative on Cain that is not even relevant, the negative is demonstrably ... wrong.

Focus.

..... What exactly is your point in all this? Posting a mug shot without providing the background circumstances makes me wonder about your motives in doing so. Did Mr Block massacre a busload of nuns? Was he arrested as a civil rights demonstration? Was he involved in a domestic dispute? Were charges dropped? Was he cleared? Pardoned? Was he sent to Death Row?

Kindly clarify.

Yep, Alveda King is a stauch pro life woman. I don’t think she would be behind Cain if he was not.

Mormonism will come up if he gets the nomination. It’s called strategery.

—You can see Cain picks superbly qualified people.

I’m convinced he would do the same as President.—

For me, the most important quality a president can have besides good decision making skills is the ability to surround himself with a cabinet that knows what it’s doing.

But then, that only demonstrates their decision making skills.

And I’m with you on this one. This is a very good opportunity to see how the man rolls.

—ou have every right to change your mind...—

Psst...I don’t think April’s mind changed. ;-)

Like the callers to Rush that say they are long time republicans but have gone democrat because the republican party is for smaller government. :-D

Concerning the picture of the Cain staffer smoking a cigarette, you asked:

What was the charge and was he convicted?

To some people who call themselves "conservatives", that was the crime - smoking a cigarette.

Oh, the horror, oh the huge manatee! What will that evil Cain do next, show someone sipping a glass of wine, running with scissors? Where does the insanity stop?

Block has been accused of voter suppression and was banned from running Wisconsin political campaigns for three years

voter suppression, in WISCONSIN? That must mean he found dead people voting.

I loved when Cain said there will probably be other allegations, and when the press expectedly asked for specifics he took the opportunity to say he knows of none, but he expected the “machine” would come up with any unsupported allegations it could.

I like Mr. Cain very much and had hoped that he would be the Republican nominee. Had he consistently engaged his brain before opening his mouth -- not to fashion politically acceptable obfuscations but to tell his side clearly and truthfully -- he would remain a viable candidate, likely to win next year's election. Now, I am afraid that he is toast.

Perhaps, you could cite for me an instance where you have posted a reply on Free Republic that was supportive of Herman Cain or in any way favorable towards him.

“Just wait until the allegations fly about Newt’s divorces.”

Allegations flew ages ago, but apparently are false. His own daughter has recounted the actual timeline of at least one issue. The decision to divorce was before his wife learned she had cancer. Also, people say he dumped her “while she was dying of cancer”. She’s alive and well. No dying here. (Sorry, MSM. Move on.)

“You’re talking about something that happened more than two decades ago. People change...”

You’re so right. I’m fascinated sometimes to read FReepers’ posts pig-piling on someone for misdeeds/sins in the past. Most here profess to be Christians, but “redemption” is a basic tenet Christians must believe in in order to claim the title of “Christian”. People do change.
