This, of all the felonies, where pedophiles will re-abuse his victims, should have been alarms going off, sirens flashing and blaring, etc.
At some point, follow-THRU was needed.
This approach you hint upon -- a sort of "I'll do the bare minimum legal approach" to ethics is pathetic, horrific, repulsive and sickening when you consider the context of these crimes.
