STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Penn State assistant coach Mike McQueary will miss Saturday's game against Nebraska after the school said he received "multiple threats."
McQueary testified in a grand jury investigation that eventually led to child sex-abuse charges being filed against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. The ensuing scandal brought down longtime coach Joe Paterno, who was fired by the university on Wednesday amid growing criticism that he should have done more to stop the alleged abuse.
McQueary, who testified that he saw Sandusky sodomizing a boy in the shower, encountered similar scrutiny. The university's athletic department released a one-line statement Thursday night saying it would be "in the best interest of all" if the receivers coach didn't attend the season's final home game at Beaver Stadium.

Did anyone involved, or had knowledge of this, do a follow up? If they didn’t that would be where they failed IMO. They reported it but did they follow through to make sure something was being done about it?
Someone finally did something about this human waste product called Sandusky.

The NCAA needs to step in, do the heavy lifting, and CANCEL the game and the rest of the PSU season.

I hope the vast majority of PennSt students and fans are aghast, and are eager to show support for the victims by showing up wearing baby blue. Viewers tuning in and seeing a sea of baby blue will be the best first step to rehabilitating their image. A sea of white will damage their image further.

That is excusing bad conduct. We have no evidence that any police investigation was quashed by some pedophile ring. What we have is an adult man -- 28 years old -- who witnessed a child being allegedly raped and did nothing other than running home to daddy. They had telephones at the time. 911 was in service at the time. He is a moral coward, not a victim of some conspiracy.
Cancel the remainder of the season. Clean house. Rebuild the football program from scratch.
I can’t imagine McQueary coaching again at Penn St. or anywhere else ever. Ditto coaching his kids’ teams or everyone’s else’s ever. Ditto any other job with kids ever.
What I fear is red—bloodshed. Its pretty off the charts emotional right now. The media is culpable in this, IMO, both national and local. Why? Paterno is the story...images of Paterno keep being played over and over. Not Spanier and not a ‘perp’ (or perv) walking Sandusky. The focus has been taken OFF the victims; and onto Paterno’s legacy...and ‘what this means to the Nittany Lions.’
It needs ended. Period. The NCAA needs to invoke the ‘Death Penalty.’. (25 year suspension).
Probably impossible, but they’d be wise to de-Paterno the entire athletic department by shutting down until all Paterno-affiliated disciples have been replaced. Guilt by association is unfair, but inevitable in this case. They need a fresh start with fresh faces.
Yes, he should have gone directly to the police after he had crippled the sodimizer for life. This poor excuse for a man should never be allowed to have any contact with students, atheletes or children! I can’t imagine a 97 pound weakling nerd allowing this without attacking the pervert much less a strapping 28 year old jock type.

Switzer is correct..According to media accounts, multiple individuals in the PSU athletic department either witnessed Sandusky assaulting young boys or knew about it. Yet, he remained on staff for three decades and still had full access to Penn State football facilities until he was arrested.
It’s because everyone knew that Sandusky retained his ties to Penn State. When he was forced out, I’m sure that Sandusky threatened to take down everyone with him, if his perverted activities were exposed. And so the cover-up began.
As I stated in a previous post, Penn State has not seen the worst of this scandal. I wouldn’t take any bets on PSU playing football in 2012 or 2013, and the program will bw a shadow of its former self for a decade to come. And Sandusky will have plenty of company in the big house, between those who perjured themselves to protect him and others who may have been involved in the sexual crimes.
There's no way to save this program. Shut the whole thing down, and make them loose money. If money is the only thing that maters, maybe that will teach them a lesson about actions and consequences.

In a sense, McQueary had also been groomed. He grew up in State College; his life had been football and Penn State football at that since he was a small boy; he was trained to obey, revere, defer to coaches; he’d spent ten years at least subordinate to Sandusky; he must have been in shock.
And then he failed to throw off that shock and act as a man should in the immediate event. He recovered enough to turn the story over to the his other mentors, the figures of even higher authority, and when they failed to act, he let it go.
