Maybe the Anazazi of the 4-Corners area died off because they were required by their religion to keep open fires in the kivas. the smoke made the person going in and out “ceremonialy clean”.

Maybe the same for the women cooking.

Ah, a reason to regulate and ban wood burning stoves. This must account for the poor performance of all the students in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine....oh, wait..nevermind.

I’ll stop cooking on my Big Green Egg about the same time I quit going in the back yard each night and face east to mecca and take a leak.
When I die and not a moment sooner.

Tonight, Home made Pizza.

Lawn darts, chemistry sets with real chemicals, he!!, I had a Rifleman rifle from Mattel that you put stick-on caps on the bullets so there would be a bang when the spring-loaded bullets came out. I had a Vacu-Former, even the Creepy Crawler molds with Plastigoop. I had a OM (One Man Army) bazooka that pushed enough air to blow out an eardrum at 10 paces! And cereal boxes? We used to cut out the Archies and Jackson 5 45’s on the back of them. You’d have to put a quarter on the tonearm because the box was warped! Don’t get me started.

This article is true! If Perry didn’t have so much Texas BBQ he could have remembered ... the ... whatever it was he couldn’t remember.

We had wood and coal stoves for heating and cooking until the mid 60’s and then we got LP gas. I hated wood chopping. Still have a scar on my left hand from where I nearly chopped my finger off when the ax slipped while I was splitting wood for the cook stove. I was about ten at the time............

I have a solution ... but I’m gonna need a $3 million grant to substantiate my proposition ... DON’T SIT DOWNWIND FROM THE FIRE!!! Then, enjoy whatever it is that you cooked.

My grandmother cooked with a wood fired cook stove until about 1946 and generations of Americans prepared their food that way and many lived to ripe old ages. They also consumed a diet high in fats like lard, used salt in large quantities especially in home canning and were exposed to hazards the nanny state would never allow, yet they survived. If even half the stuff we are now told is deadly to our health were true, I figure the human race would have died out a long time ago.
