Since Obamacare’s Passage, Millions Have Lost Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance
www.weeklystandard.com ^ | November 11, 2011 | JEFFREY H. ANDERSON

Throughout the Obamacare debate, President Obama repeatedly promised, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” Now, Gallup reports that from the first quarter of 2010 (when Obama signed Obamacare into law) to the third quarter of this year, 2 percent of American adults lost their employer sponsored health insurance. In other words, about 4.5 million Americans lost their employer-sponsored insurance over a span of just 18 months.

This is not what the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) had predicted would happen. Rather, the CBO had predicted that Obamacare would increase the number of people with employer-sponsored insurance by now. It had predicted that, under Obamacare, 6 million more Americans would have employer-sponsored insurance in 2011 than in 2010 (see table 4, which shows the CBO’s projected increase of 3 million under (pre-Obamacare) current law and an additional 3 million under Obamacare). So the CBO’s rosy projections for Obamacare (and even these paint a frightening picture) are already proving false.

Working as designed.

“0bamacare” had nothing to do with improving the healthcare system. It was all about destroying it, so Americans will later demand that the government step in and “do something” to fix it. Then, we’ll get a big part of the Socialist utopia. Government run healthcare.

I wouldn’t be able to sleep peacefully at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave knowing I’d screwed up everything for everyone.

They cut mine from a fully paid no deductible Cadillac plan to a $2000 HSA deductible that the company helps fund part of it.

Oh and it goes into effect when the Obama care plan kicks in. For me it’s a neutral change and it does help my company; however, it’s caused by obama care. What I mean is with Obama care I would have to pay a cadillac tax and my yearly deductible is now the same amount as that tax. The company said they didn’t do this because of Obama care, but clearly they did.

They should have been honest about it and just say due to the idiot they supported they need to change our medical plan.

We have HMO Insurance through my Wife's Employer.

The Doctor Office Deductible went up 20%.
The Outpatient Surgery Deductible DOUBLED from $500 to $1000. Same for the Inpatient Hospitalization Deductible.
The overall Premium went up 20%.

Could be worse. If we used my Retirement Plan Insurance, the Premium would be twice as much.

Before Obamacare, the costs never escalated this much this fast. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. Cough, cough...

Just to add a little bit to the wonderful “unintended consequences” of Obamacare, my Wife's Brother will be losing his job of 12 years at Blue Cross next year because of the 15% limit being placed on allowable “overhead” expenses.

As I tell any Liberal that will listen, Obamacare doesn't mean that they will be sitting between Nancy Pelosi and Moochelle Obama at the local Obamacare Health Clinic. Those two will be well taken care of at the Political and Wealthy Elite Health Care Facilities.

I am self employed and the rates have skyrocketed since MaoBama care.

I literally want to shove every Obama voter off a skyscraper at this point.

Spot on. The other intended consequence was to broaden and reinforce the leftist notion that all corporations are evil and don't have the best interests of their employees at heart.

My sentiments exactly. I am just a little contractor guy right now with a short term and my last (hopefully) anything to do with HP and I pay my own medical which is still affordable for now.

There was a small spike early this year but no doubt a biggie is coming one day.

You are spot on. The real goal is reliance on the government.
