Serial child sex abuse; what could Sandusky's wife have known?

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- Chattanooga native Dorothy 'Dottie' Gross Sandusky not only has been her husband Jerry's partner in life, and in the raising of six adopted children; but also in his 'Second Mile' charity.

Pennsylvania prosecutors allege the former Penn State defensive coordinator used Second Mile to find, groom and rape at least six young boys between 1994 and 2009.

Some of the alleged attacks are believed to have occurred in the couple's home.

So how, many ask, could Dottie Sandusky not have known?

"I've seen it both ways," clinical social worker Farlie Chastain says. "In which the family knows and is in denial."

"Because these people are good," Nurse Practitioner Allyson Neal says. "They are what you want them to be at any given moment."

"Very good at hiding it from everyone," Chastain says. "Very good at seducing the child and manipulating the child not to tell."

It’s funny, I just watched ( for the nth time ) an episode of Perry Mason, “The Unwelcome Bride”, in which Perry, with Della, presents to the court a timeline chart of the events of the evening of the murder, which they presciently reveal slot by slot as the testimony unfolds. This serves, of course, to aid the viewer’s comprehension of the complicated plot.

It’s just such an aid that I seem to be lacking here for the events of an affair spanning 16 years, and I have to admit that I never had an inkling of any of this during all that time, although the facts seem to say that there was public knowledge of it ... but how could this be?

And, today, they will play their football game, like nothing else matters, like they've done for over 15 years now! Care about the victims? Victims that were raped for years because their football team mattered more to them than the victims!

They might as well drag out onto the field to hold above their heads a 100-yard bandaid to symbolically represent their approach to child pain and adult heartache in their "community."

My grandmother passed away in August and I had to sit at the post-burial reception and listen to my aunt endlessly tell me what an incredibly good, decent, kind and wonderful man my uncle is.

Why I did not finally snap and go completely, utterly batsh*t is still a miracle to me.

So, no, I’m not really dealing with this most recent, spectacularly egregious public child molester scandal very well.

I haven’t even talked to my mom in weeks because if *she* makes any comments about “how horrible all this is”, I might not be able to avert the emotional snapping, this time.

Suffice to say that I personally think he *and* everyone who knew should be summarily taken out, gut shot and left to die in a cold, lonely place.

i won’t be the least bit suprised when joe paterno is id’d as one of the customers of the f##king monster’s pimping business.

I'm not sure if I would go that far, however I would bet the rent that assuming Sandouchebagsky makes it to trial without offing himself or being off'd by someone else, I fully expect a component of his legal defense to be that he is a "victim" too, and he will claim that when he played for Penn State in the 60's that Paterno molested HIM. It will (in my opinion) be a lie, but amoral monsters like Sandouchebagsky always seek to take down as many others as possible when they finally face justice.

Speaking of McQueary, I have yet to hear exactly WHY someone walking in on an episode involving a grown man raping a 10 year old boy did NOTHING to STOP that assault in it's tracks!

I'll tell you what I would have done, I would have RUN (not walked) up to Sandouchebagsky, grabbed him by his hair, ears, whatever, yanked him off that child, kicked him square in the nuts, slammed his ugly child molesting face into the concrete floor of the showers, REPEATEDLY until he was a bloodied eff'd up MESS!

And as he drifted in and out of consciousness, I would be roaring in his g*ddamned ears "YOU DO NOT RAPE CHILDREN YOU M-F'ER!!!"

If McQueary had done that, he might be a hero today.

If my husband brought young boys home and spent a lot of time alone with them in a basement bedroom, you better damn well know I'd be finding out what was going on.

Sandusky’s wife is another person who suffers from this nightmare. Maybe she was in denial, had a feeling but was to scared to do anything about it, or was just flat out clueless.

So many people could have turned to the police. The janitors in 2000, Mcquery, Mcquery’s father, Paterno, AD, VP, President, and wrestling coach. If you read the Grand Jury Report, the janitors pretty much had a pow wow discussing the situation. They feared they would lose their jobs if they reported it. That pretty much answers why no one did anything...there was something to lose if they did.

We can speculate all we want about why no one stopped him or not. We should be speculating about what could unfold.
1. Let’s say Sandusky resigned and stayed on campus as long as he did because he has information to stain the football program. If that comes out, NCAA comes in and cleans house on the football program.
2. More victims will come forward. Fueling the fire to this mess.
3. The announcement made on the Boston Radio show about an investigation of Sandusky using Second Mile as a sex ring for Boosters? My god...if that were to be true, we are talking about child trafficking. No way it would end from the boosters. You follow the money from boosters and the second mile charity, it could lead you into scary places. Penn State might as well shut down as a University.

I’ll be honest, I am Penn St alum and will always have great memories of my four years there. This isn’t debating about why a football game should be played or not, or who should get fired or not. This about hoping there are NO more victims out there from Sandusky and hoping the child sex ring rumor is false.

McQueary should have told the young boy to leave. The next day the media should have been reporting the story of how Sandusky apparently slipped and fell in the shower causing his death by a fractured skull.
